The Death of Sven Reinhard (AU)
“Shit!” The German cursed as he ducked behind one of his desks, just as the spiked tail of one of his creatures came flying past him. It had escaped and it wasn’t happy. But Sven refused to leave the lab, he didn’t want everything destroyed and he couldn’t risk his creatures escaping. “Gobutsu come on now…” He spoke to the creature, standing up and backing away. He knew it was useless, it wouldn’t listen to him. He froze however when he felt breath on his back. “Was?”
Turning around he came face to face with another one of his creatures, a horse sized white wolf. His situation got a whole lot worse.
“Nashimi…how did you get out?” He backed away from both creatures, ducking out of the room when the wolf went for him. He had to come up with a new plan now, and quick; before he got hurt or even before more escaped.
His sprint didn’t last for long though as he felt something catch the back of his leg and he tripped, falling onto the hard ground and quickly turning over.
“Nashimi…come on now, be a good wolf and go back to your room…” He tried to crawl away but the wolf was too quick; it’s huge jaw coming down and locking around Sven’s shoulder to keep him there. The German cursed loudly, especially when he was lifted up and pressed against the wall in that manner. He didn’t struggle however as he knew it was a bad idea, he didn’t want his shoulder any more injured than it was going to be. The situation was about to get worse for him though as he could hear Gobutsu coming down the corridor.
“Fick fick fick fick fick…” He cursed as he gripped onto Nashimi’s muzzle. “Es tut mir leid but I can’t let you eat me you over grown fur ball.” Leaning forward despite the pain he poked the wolf in the eyes and got him to let go. Not wasting any moment he ducked under Nashimi and ran as quick as he could, ignoring the growing pain in the right side of his body. Maybe he should have just got out of there while he could after all.
Scanning all the doors as he ran he noticed that he was near Nashimi’s room. “I could probably lure him there.” Slowing down to a walk he examined the broken door. “Not so good but I can solve this.” He mumbled to himself before listening out for growling. Quickly stepping into the room and hid near the door, knowing his blood will be smelt and followed. It wasn’t long before the wolf poked its head into the room, sniffing the air and sneaking further inside. Sven had to be careful now, especially to quieten his heavy breathing.
Now for the dangerous part. Stumbling out of his hiding place he skidded out of the room and quickly pressed the red button on the keypad next to the doorway. Thick metal bars came down over the doorway, trapping Nashimi inside his room.
“One down, one more temperamental creature to go.” He muttered as he staggered off to find Gobutsu.
It took him a while, mainly due to his injury slowing him down, to find Gobutsu. He was trying to get into the room where Sven kept the food for the creatures. ‘Rather him going for there than me.’ He thought to himself as he snuck further into the room. ‘How am I supposed to get him back into his room now? Think Sven, think!’ Sitting on the floor with his back against a desk he glanced to the side to watch Gobutsu. ‘Well both his eyesight and his sense of smell aren’t the best…but his hearing is really good. How could I use that to my advantage?’ Then the idea came to him. Picking up the nearest heavy object, a paperweight, he threw it in the direction of the next room. Gobutsu instantly stopped what he was doing and ran off in that direction, thinking it was Sven he heard.
“Okay, I don’t have much time…”
He knew his plan had been dangerous but it had been going okay so far. He’d managed to get into his store and take some of the meat out of there, leaving a trail to Gobutsu’s room so he could lure him there. But he didn’t have time to wait for the creature to wander this way; his time was already running out with his shoulder so badly injured. It was risky but he could have to shout him.
“Gobutsu!” He shouted, instantly hearing movement heading his way. “Okay, I didn’t quite think this through…” He didn’t have time to think before the large creature came around the corner, his eyes fixed on Sven.
“Scheiße…” He quickly pressed himself against the wall when Gobutsu ran at him; the sharp tail the creature possessed catching Sven in the stomach. The pain was becoming too much but he couldn’t give up yet, he had one more thing to do.
Forcing himself to stay on his feet he followed after Gobutsu, glad to see the creature had headed back to his room to get the food that had been left for him. Leaning against the wall as he walked, Sven got to the door and did the same as with Nashimi, pressing the button to shut off the room.
“I have to get out of here…” He only got halfway to the exit before he collapsed and slipped unconscious, the blood loss and pain becoming too much.
It was a few hours later that he was discovered by his husband, Sam. Who panicked and ran over to him.
“Sven? Sven?!” Sitting the unconscious German up, he leaned him against the wall and shook him a little. “Sven? Wake up!” He then took notice of the blood, all the blood. “W-What happened…”
A small, weak groan broke his thought process and he looked back at Sven, who slowly opened his eyes. “W-Was?”
“Sven! What happened?! Why are you injured? Why didn’t you call me or something?! You need help! Medical attention!” Sam was becoming hysterical and panicky so he wasn’t thinking straight at all.
“S-Sam…calm down…” He reached his uninjured arm out to Sam to try and quieten him.
“Calm down?! How can I calm down? Look at you!”
“I got in a spot of bother, Nashimi and Gobutsu got out. I had to get them back in their rooms…”
“Sven you idiot! You shouldn’t have done that alone!”
Sven started coughing rather harshly which ended up with blood.
“Sven! Stop it! I can save you! We’re in your lab I-“ Sam choked on his own words as his words were replaced by sobs. “Don’t leave me…”
“I don’t want to Sam but…my body is already shutting down.” His words were getting all shaky and, for the first time since he was very small, he had begun to cry. “I-I don’t want to leave you.”
“S-Sven…” Sam threw himself on the other, hugging him tight and sobbing.
“Sam…S-Sam…it’s okay…it’ll be okay.” He could feel himself slipping away again and he knew he wouldn’t come back from this one. “Listen…you have to look after yourself, look after everyone else…”
“I can’t do it Sven, not without you…”
“You can Sam. You are stronger than you think. Have some faith in that.” He was fighting to stay conscious for at least a few moments longer. “Ich liebe dich. I love you, and I always will. I’ll never leave you, because I’ll always be in your heart. If you let me.”
“I’ll never stop loving you….I never want to stop loving you…ever…” Sam continued to sob, taking a while to realise he didn’t get a response out of Sven. Moving away slightly to look at him; Sven had his eyes closed but a small smile on his face. He wasn’t breathing and in that moment, Sam realised he’d lost the only person he’d ever loved.
(Well this was actually I second attempt at writing one for this. I didn’t like how the other was going so I did this instead. To me it seems a little rushed but whatever. Now excuse me while I go sob in a corner. ;w;)
