Tonight Alive took the stage with their inspiring punk sound at Slim’s in San Francisco. The band has blossomed since their first EP, Consider This, back in 2010. The Australian outfit have used their platform to promote empowerment, positivity, and self-confidence. Their latest effort, Underworld, is groundbreaking album of a band willing to push the boundaries.

Singer Jenna McDougall’s emotional delivery and out-of-this-world vocal range, along with the band’s captivating music awed the audience. McDougall climbed the barricade and into the crowd, much to the fans delight. The band have remained down to earth and McDougall’s gesture was another example of that. Tonight Alive delved into their older discography, playing “Listening,” “Hell and Back” and “The Other Side.” It was great to see fans young enough to be in grade school to well into their 40s sing along to McDougall’s every word.

Tonight Alive Enchant Fans With The Fierce And Unapologetic “Underworld”

Tonight Alive’s latest release is an otherworldly cascade of adrenaline. They have perfected the elements that first drew us to them back in 2010: frontwoman Jenna McDougall’s bold vocals, unapologetic lyrics and the band’s thunderous drums and riffs make Underworld an album to remember. The Australian band’s delivery is flawless, despite a lineup shakeup with the departure of guitarist and writer Whakaio Taahi.

“Temple” is catchy and addictive. McDougall defiantly confronts the demons that haunt her: “I’ve been suffocated by my obsession/ And I cannot stand the sight/ Of all the pain I see in my reflection.” McDougall’s honesty, integrity and willingness to make use of her platform to send positive messages make it easy for fans to relate to her. Similarly, McDougall fearlessly discusses her inner conflicts with “The Other.” The track “Disappear” features PVRIS’ Lynn Gunn is yet another highlight on Underworld. Tonight Alive bring their best on this striking, larger-than-life record.

The band will embark on their Get Free Tour with Silverstein, Broadside, and Picturesque this month.
