                           Why was it that people always asked him that particular question?                                             The one question he couldn’t actually answer.

“Er… well… I mean… it’s kind of… complicated? I mean, it’s… um… not exactly the same across the board. There’s a few… special cases. I’m kind of sort of one of them. Eh heh. Sorry.”

                             Cue a sheepish grin and a rub to the back of his head.

        ❝Don’t worry about it; this stuff is probably                          over my head anyway.❞

⇨Come to think of it, perhaps the reason Aang had been told ghosts    weren’t real all his life was due to normal humans’ incapability to   interact with them! Was this some Avatar thing he hadn’t been told                                            about?⇦

        ❝So, wait--are you here to inform me of some                 Avatar duty I’ve been neglecting, orrr...?❞                                                                            he eloquently inquired,                                                              shifting topics without so much as a segue.

                                    “Nope! We’re pretty real, alright.”                                      “The name’s Phantom! Nice to meet you!”

⇨While he probably shouldn’t immediately trust the apparition, it    wasn’t as if he had any better explanation for why this kid was                                     glowing and floating.⇦

        ❝So, do you know what it’s like to be dead then?             It’s not exactly something I think will ever happen                           to me, but I’m still curious.❞

                                    “… A what? Spirit? Do you mean a ghost?                                                   “Because that’s what I am.” “… mostly.”

Korra stared at her predecessor, her heading having to angle down to be able to look him in the eyes. She never really realized how short Aang was when he was younger. But that was besides the point. Raising an eyebrow as he told her that she had called him. After staying silent for a few moments, it dawned on her. 

Letting out a heavy sigh, she sat herself down in the grass, crossing her legs and resting her hands in her lap. “I’m the avatar. Master of all four elements. The keeper of balance. I’m not supposed to take sides unless it encompassed the whole world. At least, that’s what the White Lotus geezer would always tell me. But now my home is involved in a civil war, and my father was even arrested. How can I stay on the sidelines when my people need me?”

➪ ➪ Ɯнєη ωє нιт συя Ɩσωєѕт ρσιηт…

 ⇨A sigh escaped the Nomad, though his gentle, faraway smile  never fell. Taking a seat beside Korra, Aang flopped backwards            onto the lush grass, eyes locked onto the sky.⇦

        ❝I can’t tell you what answer is right or wrong,               but I do know that a war isn’t something the               Avatar shouldn’t intervene in, even if it only              pertains to one nation. That doesn’t mean you             shouldn’t stay neutral, just that you should work                          to end the conflict peacefully.❞

⇨Call it the pacifist in him, but that was the only reasonable option Aang saw at this point. Rather unfortunate that death couldn’t bring about some all knowing power, that would make any Avatar’s life                                      so much easier.⇦

He could get them across quickly? How, the Hylian had no idea; he was just a kid who knew a little magic. At least, that’s what it looked like to her. Maybe she’d figure out what that was soon. Still, deciding to go with it, she pointed him in the direction where the sun was setting.

“ That way,   though I have no idea how you think you can get us there… ”

        ❝Just trust me; here, hop on my back!❞

⇨Following his instruction, the Air Nomad sunk to one knee before           her, throwing an expectant look over his shoulder.⇦

She had just drifted off to sleep in her bed when a sensation of falling overtook her. When she opened her eyes, jolting awake to what she thought would be her bedroom, she instead found herself in a rather strange place she had never seen before. She stood in a field, a long tree sitting atop the hill. The wind blew gently, causing waves to roll along the grass beneath her feet. A figure stood in the field with her. A figure she knew. “Aang?” She questioned. “What is this place? And why are you here?”

⇨The light breeze played across his clothes, tousling the airy outfit    he donned. The airbender drank in the feeling; with his eyes shut   long enough, fooling himself into thinking it had been the real thing                                      was a simple feat.⇦

⇨Though, with the perceived presence, the sensation of reality faded,             charcoal irises revealing themselves once more.⇦

        ❝Let’s just say this place is a dream,❞                                       the previous Avatar answered,                                        serenity never once faltering.         ❝And I’m here because you called to me, Korra.               Maybe not consciously, but I came anyway.❞ 

⇨His form was that of his younger self, though his voice betrayed                the years beyond the youthful appearance.⇦

This was proving more of a headache than she anticipated, he didn’t seem to realize just how unknowing she was. Her pointed ears twitched in thought. Did he even know where he was?

“ Really, no I don’t.   Ugh, here…   Across this lake is my house,   we can go there and try to figure this out.   It’s dangerous to be out here when it’s dark. “

        ❝That sounds like a good idea.❞

⇨With his consent imparted, his eyes ran over the lake to try and   catch a glimpse of the aforementioned home. With waterbending,  crossing the distance would be made simple. Alas, he was far too unfamiliar with the lay of the land, and the setting sun was doing him                                        no favours.⇦

         ❝I can get us across the lake pretty fast                if you can point me in right direction.❞

Was she supposed to know? He wasn’t part of the royal family, surely, nor was he anyone like that…

⇨This was either a backwoods ‘ town ‘ or... Well, honestly? Aang                didn’t really know what else it could be.⇦

        ❝You don’t know?❞                                   he asked, making sure his ears                                               didn’t deceive him.         ❝Bends all the elements, bridge between the spirit and                     material world -- any of this ringing a bell?❞

“ Well…Alright,   but just who are you?   I’ve never seen you here before. “

Rare, considering how few even managed to make it to Lake Hylia. And then there was the odd arrow on his head…

 ⇨That’s fairly unusual; most people recognized him based on his tattoos right off the bat! Okay, sure, he did end up in this place under   abnormal circumstances, but it’s not as if he wasn’t in one of the                                   four nations, right?⇦

        ❝My name’s Aang--y’know, the Avatar?❞

Curse her inability to use magic…and her naivete.
