They way you looked at me when my world fell apart burned itself into my mind, never to be forgotten. The hint of a smile, slightly curling your pale cheeks, a tear verging the cliff of your eyes, afraid to fall, the little tremble of your hands, all became part of the last memory with you. I gave into the most basic reaction a human can do. I cried. The last beep of the machine behind me was drowned in the sobs of a broken man. Tears fogged my sight, sobs turned me deaf, and your death made me numb. I didn’t feel your doctor rub my shoulder, I didn’t hear him talk, I didn’t see him cover your body. It was the end of my world, and a Tuesday for him.
