"Stop scrolling and please help me spread the word, because if I've landed on your page you're most likely either a black woman or someone who cares about black women and the simple phrase I'm about to share could help save a black woman's life.

Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.

If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.

And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.

So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:

I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."

This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.

If you werenโ€™t already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because itโ€™s applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.

But particularly women, and especially black women.

[Image I.D: Tips for protesting in a hijab.

The less fabric, the better. If you wear a rectangle hijab, tuck in the long ends. Squares are preferred as theyโ€™re smaller.

Do not wear pins. Use a magnet if you have one or wear jersey or another hijab that does not require pins.

Bring an extra hijab. Bring an extra hijab in case you get tear gassed- it can linger on the fabric and get reactivated, so itโ€™s best to change. End I.D.]

Mia you're the only person I follow who seems to be tweeting about the BLM and I want thank you and ask if you know any ways we can help I'm in Croatia and want to help ๐Ÿ’‹

additionally, you can send an email to:ย police@minneapolismn.gov using this guide:

Hello, My name is ___ and I am a resident of ___. Iโ€™m emailing today on behalf of the George Floyd case. Iโ€™m calling for the prosecution of Derek Chauvin #1087 and his partner Tou Thao #7162 to the fullest extent of the law and that you will not rest until that happens.

George Floyd was arrested under an implied, non-violent crime and bystanders claim that he never resisted his arrest. The approach that the officers chose to take was one that resulted in murder and must not be taken lightly. Black Lives Matter. Regards.

just replace the blanks with your name and where you live โ€“ if youโ€™re afraid of them collating personal data, you can make a new email just for this purpose!!ย

just want to add to this a little more

if you choose to ignore the events about the murders of black lives, because you donโ€™t want to see any nEGatIVIty โ€“ you are showing how blinded you are by your privilege, and additionally; how youโ€™re feeding into the side of the oppressors. we all have access to social media, staying informed isnโ€™t hard especially since these sites are FREE โ€“ additionally, you can use your platforms to help spread this information. twitter right now, especially, is a beacon for this information!!

furthermore, if you are more angry about the looting that is going on instead of the LIVES of people that are being lost โ€“ you need a reality check. ย

and just to conclude, if you are out there protesting right now โ€“ iโ€™m proud of you and i wish i could be standing by your side, please know that i am there in spirit. iโ€™m going to reblog in a few minutes with some things you can do to stay safe โ€“ especially since the police are planning to escalate the curfew!!

Entry 1

ย  I feel like I have done a lot of growing in the past couple of years. I have begun to hold myself more accountable when it comes to how I treat people and how I respond to my own feelings. But this decision to change didnโ€™t happen overnight.

Around a year and a half to two years ago I remember being a very angry person. As much as I hate to admit it it was mostly towards other women. I used to be so spiteful and disgusting towards other women purely out of my own jealousy. I used to comfort myself in the fact that I never said anything to their faces or because I was never โ€œas badโ€ as other people. Now I look back and all I can see is how much of a hypocrite I was. I realize that while I may not have beenย โ€œas badโ€ as other people, I was still bad in my own right. I feel extremely disgusting to know I had, at one point, contributed in a terrible hatred for someone I didnโ€™t know. All because I was insecure and didnโ€™t know how to deal with my feelings.ย

I am glad I was able to pull my head out of my ass and realize how much of a jerk I was. I am not stupid enough to believe that in two years I am โ€œcuredโ€ of my past mistakes and behaviors. Nor do I think that admitting my wrongs means that I am automatically a good person. However, I am proud that I am/was able to see how wrong my actions where and begin changing them. I know it will take many years of work on my part to become the person I would like to be.ย

Newย beginning

I feel like the past few weeks have forced me to reflect on my past, as well as my current struggles. I have decided to turn this blog into a sort of confessional/diary. I know it would be easier to pick up an empty journal and use that instead. However, as some of the things I will post wont always show me in the best light, I think giving people the chance to read it and form their own thoughts could benefit me in the long run. I know I donโ€™t have too many followers, and for the few I do, I understand this may not be your cup of tea. But on the off chance this is something that interests you I encourage any and everyone to send me their thoughts on my future posts. I do not know how often I will post, but I hope you feel encouraged to stick around either way.ย
