Guardian-Stefan Salvatore Pt.1

//requested by @nicolerachel12 : hello love could you pls do a tvd imagine where y/n is part angel/Demi-god and was sentenced down to protect stefan she would be more of like stefans guardian and best friend more who he had feelings for . So one day y/n would be at the Salvatore house with Stefan Elena Bonnie Caroline and Damon suddenly y/n would start feeling really sick which would cause stefan to bring her to his bed she tells everyone that her wings are dying out for a long time and that it’s her time that every angel dies when her duty is done . So while there elena bonnie caroline and damon have there own separate emotional goodbyes having everyone cry . Then stefan would come into the room and y/n and him would have there own separate emotional goodbye she would mention how she’s glad she got to know him and that it was an honor to guide him and just a lot of emotional fluff between them he admits his feelings and they have a deep emotional connection at the end . when she dies her body will eventually disappear and what would be on his bed would be a ring she was going to give stefan to remember her by . When her body disappears her spirit appears by him and Bonnie sees her and she tells him how she’s always with us no matter what . I’m sorry if this is so long skushsh 💞//

//pairings: angel!reader x Stefan (platonic for now) warnings: kinda long. Also, reader serves a Goddess (not necessarily Christianity) and had so much inspo had to make it two parts. enjoy :) // (Part Two) (Part Three)

You all got your assignments when they needed you most, when they had lost their way and only you could help them back. When all hope was lost and they were on their knees begging for truth and help, that’s when you were sent down. You were supposed to watch from a distance, never get too close, and never explain who you were or what you were doing… But you never liked that rule.

You all got one assignment that was only yours. There were the stragglers that you would sometimes team up to help but every angel in the heavens had one who only you could understand.

You didn’t know when yours would come. The mortals labelled the time as year 1864, but you knew more time had past. Many, many more years had come and gone. You watched from above, subconsciously focusing a young boy with a small build. He was kind and beautiful. You never knew his name but you watched him intently.

One day, your view changed. You weren’t watching everything from above. You realized that you had been sent down to the mortal realm. Your assignment needed you.

You closed your eyes, channeling your power to see who you were looking for. All you got was a name. Stefan Salvatore.

“Excuse me, miss? Are you alright?” You heard a boy ask.

When you opened your eyes, you saw a stunning young man in front of you. His hair was as dark as night, his eyes as blue as the ocean. You had always been in awe of mortal beauty, a beauty so different than what you had been used to.

“Yes, my apologies.” You nodded. “But perhaps, you could assist me in finding someone?”

“Of course.” He bowed slightly. “Who are you in search of?”

“A boy by the name of Mr. Stefan Salvatore.” You replied.

He smiled slightly and offered his arm. “I know exactly who you’re looking for. He’s my younger brother.”

“Oh, that’s wonderful!” You exclaimed and graciously hooked your arm through his. He kindly led you down the roads until you reached the large home. “I truly appreciate all your help. I would’ve been terribly lost without you.”

You heard Her voice ringing in your head as you approached the home.

Don’t get too close. Do what you can to help him and be done with it.

You knew She was right. You weren’t supposed to get close. You were supposed to work from a distance but there was nothing you could do. His brother found you in the middle of town.

“Hello, Brother.” A familiar face said with a warm smile. You recognized him as the one you had always been fascinated by when you watched from above and now you understood why. “And who is this beautiful woman?”

“Y/N.” You nodded with a welcoming smile. “I’ve been sent from Spain.” You lied. You couldn’t exactly say you were an angel from the heavens.

“How lovely.” Stefan replied. “Well, I’m Stefan and I assume my brother has introduced himself.”

“How rude of me. I completely forgot. I’m Damon.” His brother answered.

“A pleasure to meet you both.” You nodded and curtsied slightly. The mundane dress was large, tight, and heavy. You hated it. You would’ve much rather preferred the light, sleek, flowing gown you wore in the heavens.

“I’ll leave you two to get acquainted. Miss Y/N was looking for you specifically, dear Brother. Miss Katherine is expecting me so I shouldn’t keep her waiting for too much longer.” Damon bowed out, leaving you and Stefan on the porch.

“So, Mr. Salvatore…” You began. “It’s wonderful to finally meet you. I had heard such wonderful things.”

You didn’t know what to say. You weren’t even completely sure what you were supposed to be protecting him from. You couldn’t remember any prayers or pleads to Her for help so you knew something so horrid was coming that you had to be sent early.

“How can I help you, Miss Y/N?” He said softly. “What brings you to Mystic Falls? Other than me, I suppose.”

His voice was as smooth as Chinese silk. His eyes were as true as his heart. His smile was as brilliant and warm as the devotion fires you’ve witnessed. You felt something so deep and real between you two.

“Forgive me.” You chuckled, realizing you had left a long silence between you two. It was strangely a comfortable silence. The corner of his mouth quirked up, which made you happy. “I got a bit lost in your eyes.” You said honestly.

“Miss Y/N, I’m the one who is supposed to be one awestruck. Your beauty, I have never seen anything like it.” He said kindly. “Are all Spaniards this breathtaking?”

“All the ones I know, yes.” You nodded. “A moment ago, you had asked why I was here.”

You always heard stories from Her about how when you’re around your assignment, it’ll be so intoxicating that you won’t want to leave. She warned that it’ll be intense, a feeling that you had never experienced and something that couldn’t be put into mundane words. Now you understood.

“Yes.” He confirmed. “I know that you’re here for a reason. We all have our destiny. But what is yours?”

“I think I’m here to help you, Mr. Salvatore.” You replied.

After you met him for the first time, you couldn’t stop thinking about what could possibly go wrong for such a sweet, honest, kind mundane. But then you met Miss Katherine.

You met her the night of the Founder’s Ball. Stefan had offered to escort you but you had to remind him that he had already asked Katherine. So instead, you were escorted by Damon.

She cornered you in a room away from the boys. She gripped your throat and held you against the wall, a grip that would’ve left a mundane pleading to be released. But you felt nothing.

“Is this supposed to scare me?” You asked with a slight laugh.

She was confused, scared even. She tried to threaten you by darkening her eyes but you challenged her by lightening yours. You saw reflected in her eyes just how bright yours became, a brilliant sky blue nearly white. You felt your wings try to expand but you held back as best you could. When you blinked, yours eyes returned to their normal color and your wings had settled back down.

“What are you?” She said in shock.

“I’m the opposite of you.” You said calmly, pushing her hand away from your throat. “Where there is darkness in your heart, mine is only light. Where you are cruel, vindictive, and vengeful, I am understanding, forgiving, and loving. You manipulate people and use them for your own selfish needs while I wish to help people live to their full potential. I aim for happiness. You aim for control.”

“Who sent you?” She spoke in fear, fear of your power and confidence. “Did- Did the Mikaelsons send you? Did Niklaus send you?”

“You’ll never know for sure, Katherine.” You said plainly. While you had never heard those names before, it kept your real identity and purpose hidden.

“Why are you here?” You asked her. “What is your goal?”

“Stefan.” She said plainly.

“He’s too good for you.” You replied. “You’ll never be good enough for him.”

“What does it matter to you?” She challenged.

“Miss Y/N?” You heard Damon call down the hall. “Miss Katherine?”

“If you’ll excuse me, I have a date to return to.” You said calmly, turning to leave.

“What are you?” She asked again, standing beside you at the door.

“What are you?” You answered.

“I think you know.” She said.

“You’re something evil.” You said simply. “I am not.”

“Oh, so you’re an angel?” She joked.

“Perhaps.” You shrugged and left the room, rejoining your date in the hall.

Unpure intentions radiated from her and you knew she would be Stefan’s downfall. You watched from afar as you were supposed to, not physically interferring too much with their relationship but that night, that night you had to do something.

You were staying with the Salvatores since you had no where else to go. You heard yelling from down the hall, two loud thuds, and the commotion of civilians outside the house.

“Mr. Salvatore?” You questioned as Stefan raced down the hall. “Where are you- Where are you going?”

Quickly you followed and saw him meet with his brother outside. Katherine was being hauled into the back of a cart with her mouth covered. You realized at that point that was why you were here for Stefan. Katherine was a vampire, something She wanted to stop. Stefan was her next victim.

“We have to get her back.” Stefan panted.

“She’s going to get you killed.” You said calmly.

“Miss Y/N, you should return to your room.” Damon suggested. His eyes betrayed the panic he felt. “This is no matter for a lady like yourself.”

“I’m more than you see, Mr. Salvatore.” You replied, going down the steps and standing in front of them. “Now, let her be.”

“I can’t.” Stefan said quietly. He was in agony. He loved Miss Katherine, or so he thought. “This is my fault.”

“I don’t care who’s fault it is.” You said honestly. “Let her go.”

“We need to go, Brother.” Stefan said, ignoring your pleas. “She’ll be burned alive if we don’t get her.”

“Stefan, please.” You tried. You never used his first name. You had hoped that now he would understand what he meant to you. You couldn’t let him go. “Please, stay with me.”

“I can’t stay, Y/N…” He said regretfully.

“You’ll die if you go.” You said factually. You saw it. He would die if he went to save Katherine. Him and his brother would not come back alive. “So will your brother.”

“I have to try.” He whispered before turning and running off with his brother.

You have to stop him, Y/N. He’ll die and that’ll be on you. Her voice chimed in your mind.

“I know that’s on me. I just don’t know what to do.” You sighed, knowing She could hear you.

You had no choice but to follow them. You heard men yelling for you to go home, to let them handle it. You had forgotten just how ridiculous mundane gender roles were. But you didn’t care. You had to save him. You had to try.

But you were too late. You heard the gun shots and it froze you in your tracks. One and then another soon after. It felt like your insides were on fire, a burning pain was spreading through your whole body. You felt numb but you had to keep going. You had to find him.

You quickly came across two bodies lying on the floor. A third hovering over one, gently speaking to it.

“Katherine.” You said as you approached her. “This was because of you.”

“I didn’t tell them to try to save me.” She rolled her eyes. “That was his choice.”

“You never should’ve been here.” You replied, kneeling by Stefan’s dead body.

“What’ll it be for you now, little angel?” She mocked. She had figured it out somehow but in that moment, you didn’t care. “The heavens won’t take you back since you failed. There’s nothing for you here. What will you become? Dust?”

“Not before I watch you burn.” You said in anger.

Your work is not done. Only prolonged. She has turned him and his brother. Stay with him, as long as it takes.

That was the beginning of a long journey. Through it all, you were beside Stefan. He had many hardships, his brother devoting his immortality to making him miserable. He had fallen victim to his darkest desires for a long time and you had to coax him out of it. He had watched his friend die at his brother’s hand. He had fallen in love twice and lost them both. But when he met a girl who looked exactly like Katherine, you were concerned.

She brought as much havoc if not more into his life as Katherine did. She brought Klaus and Damon back, the other Mikaelson siblings came as well which made things interesting. She even brought Katherine back. Elena and her friends had turned off their humanity and so had Stefan at one point.

But you were there for him through it all. You never questioned when your time with Stefan would end because you enjoyed it so much. He was fun, happy, kind, gentle, understanding, and all around the best person you had come across.

But it did end. Stefan had grown into such a strong person, he didn’t need his guardian angel anymore. It had been a long time coming, for weeks you felt the feathers falling from your wings. You hated to leave him but you didn’t have a choice. She was calling you back and you had to return.

Guardian-Stefan Salvatore Pt.2

//pairings: angel!reader x Stefan (romantic-ish) warnings: sad, kinda long, death (sorry if you cried… I cried too)//

This had been coming for a good month. Your wings became heavy on your back, drawing you towards a constant want to collapse. It felt like your light, feathery wings had suddenly became made of lead or iron. Your stomach churned, your body was trying to destroy itself. She was telling you that you were done, but you found yourself fighting it. You found yourself reserving your powers to keep yourself on the mortal realm but alas, even your powers had their limit.

You were sitting with the gang at the house when it really hit you. You couldn’t fight it anymore. You couldn’t fight the end.

You were seated next to Stefan, your head resting on his shoulder and his arm on the back of the couch behind you. Caroline sat on the armrest next to you. Damon, Elena, and Bonnie sat on the opposite couch with Elena in the middle.

She called to you again by sending a sharp tugging sensation through your chest. You groaned louder than you intended and winced a bit, resisting as best you could.

“Y/N?” Stefan asked, drawing attention to your struggles.

He was why you were fighting. He was why you wanted to stay. You knew he was in a good place, truly deeply happy for what felt like the first time since you met him. When you looked at him, you saw so much more than just an assignment. You saw a friend, a best friend, and maybe even the one you loved.

You weren’t completely sure if this was what mundanes considered love. You couldn’t quite understand mundane love, even if you had spejt the last century around it. You saw toxic relationships titled as love, manipulation in the name of love, abuse and hate in the name of love. But what did you did understand was that love - real love - is pure, true, and kind. Whether it was love or not, there obviously was the deep emotional connection between you two.

“I need to tell you all something…” You said quietly. You were so weak your voice could barely raise over a whisper. “I’m not immortal. I won’t live forever, at least not on this realm.”

“What are you talking about?” Bonnie questioned.

“Yeah, I’ve known you since I was human. We both have.” Damon commented, gesturing to his brother.

“I know.” You nodded. “But I’m not a vampire or anything like that. I’m-” You tried to explain but a sharp pain ripped through your chest, as if She was going to drag you back to the heavens by your heart if She had to.

Stop fighting. Come home, my angel. He doesn’t need a guardian anymore.

“I was sent from the heavens.” You confessed finally. “I’m a guardian angel, Stefan’s guardian angel to be specific. But he doesn’t need me anymore so I-” You groaned. She was not happy. “My wings are dying and I’m being called back to the heavens.”

“Come on.” Stefan said softly, helping you to your feet. You tried to protest, to tell him that you were fine and didn’t need to go anywhere, but your body collapsed once you reached you feet. He swiftly caught you, lifting you up with one arm around your back an the other under your legs.

He carefully carried you up the stairs and to his bedroom. Gently, he placed on the bed and you saw everyone else file in behind him. Everyone, even Damon, was near tears if not already crying. You noticed Stefan quickly leaving the room while keeping his head down and that hurt more than all the physical pain.

“Y/N…” Elena said, coming to kneel by your side.

“Oh, Elena.” You sighed with a small smile. “I remember when I saw you for the first time… I thought you were Katherine.” She smiled slightly in return. “But Stefan convinced me to give you a chance and I’m glad that I did. You are so sweet, Elena. You are truly kind and this cruel world does not deserve you.”

“We didn’t deserve you.” She managed through her tears.

“I wish I could stay, to see the person you grow into after a century or two of immortality. You have so much potential to be a powerful, yet compassionate force. Never lose sight of that, Elena.”

She nodded and leaned over for a quick hug before stepping back. Damon took her place.

You chuckled slightly. “Hello, Mr. Salvatore.” You joked.

“Good afternoon, Miss Y/N.” He replied with a sad smile. “I never believed you were from Spain, by the way.”

You shook your head slightly. “I didn’t know what else to say.” You shrugged. “Damon, you were the first human I ever met. I remember I was so in awe of just how beautiful you were. You were kind to me, a girl you had never met. I know that person still exists inside, no matter how you try to hide it, I know who you really are.”

“Yeah, well, time changes people.” He said, trying to keep his careless demeanor.

“Not that way.” You shook your head. “I’ve seen a lot. I didn’t just come into existence when I was sent down. I watched millenniums pass and time doesn’t make people do complete 180′s. And if it does, it doesn’t last forever. Let people in, Damon. I promise you’ll be happier, less… bitter.”

“I’m gonna miss you, Y/N…” He confessed. “You never gave up on my brother, or me for that matter. No one can ever replace you.”

“I’m gonna miss you too, Damon.” You agreed. He leaned down and kissed your cheek before wiping his tears away and standing by Elena. Next came Caroline.

She laughed nervously and shook her head as she sat next to you on the bed. She took your hand tightly in hers.

“You can’t go.” She argued.

“I don’t want to.” You said softly. “But it’s not up to me, Care.”

“What about graduation? And- And prom? Oh my god, and- and- and college? There’s so much for you here.” She said frantically.

“I know.” You nodded, having accepted your impending fate. “Sadly, this is the end of the line for me here… But Caroline, it is only the beginning for you. There’s so much potential for you. You’re such a confident, young soul. You can do so much good for people.”

“It’s not fair.” She mumbled.

“I know… I know.” You agreed. “But, She knows what’s best. And Stefan just doesn’t need his guardian angel anymore. He’s strong enough to take care of himself. Now, I need you to be strong, Caroline. I need you to continue to be the person you are and I need you to continue to make me and everyone around you proud.”

“I promise.” She nodded, hugging you tightly. “I promise I’ll make you proud.”

Lastly, Bonnie came to your side.

“Ah, the strongest witch I have ever met.” You complemented with a smile.

She smiled through her tears. “That might be a bit of a stretch.”

“Not at all.” You shook your head.

“Is there anything I can do?” She offered desperately. “Some spell or a summoning to bring you back?”

“I wish there was, Bonnie. I wish there was. But Her word is finite. There is no force that could change it.” You replied sadly.

You’d do best to listen to that word, my angel. The pain will only get worse and it hurts me to see you torment yourself over mortals.

“I’m sorry, Y/N…” Bonnie said, as if this was her fault.

“Bonnie Bennett, don’t you dare apologize for this.” You said quickly. “I have adored you since the moment we met. You’ve done so much for your friends, for me, for Stefan. My job would’ve been so much harder if you hadn’t been so kind and selfless.”

“What are we gonna do without you?” She cried softly.

“I’ll be gone, yes, but I’ll live on in your memories. I’ll be with you all until the very end, just not physically.”

“We love you, Y/N…” Caroline added from near the wall.

“So much.” Elena continued.

“It’s just not gonna be the same without you around…” Damon trailed off.

“Yes, I know.” You agreed. “I love you guys too and I never thought I’d be on Earth this long but it has been the best time. I adore all of you and I wish you all the best. Believe me when I say that you will heal and be happy.”

Silently and huddled together, they left the room. You slipped your fingers into your pocket and pulled out the small gold band on the sleek gold chain. You pulled it out, letting it hang between your fingers. You had bought the simple, mundane jewelry when you first felt the end. You were going to give it to Stefan so he always had you with him, even when you weren’t physically there but since he had walked out, you didn’t think you would have the chance anymore.

Come home, now Y/N. It’ll only hurt worse if you continue to fight it.

“Please, just let me say goodbye to him.” You asked Her quietly. The pain in your chest reappeared, spreading throughout your stomach and inching down your pelvis. “He’s all I’ve ever known..”

Make it quick.

“You need to go in there.” You heard Damon say sternly.

“I don’t know what to say to her…” Stefan said sadly.

“She is dying, Brother.” Damon said plainly. “She needs you, more than ever. More than you ever needed her, she needs you right now. Don’t lose the chance to say goodbye. Because you will regret it for the rest of your life.“

After a moment of silence, you watched Stefan enter the room. Your hand closed around the ring as he sat on the bed next to you.

“If I had stayed, in 1864, instead of chasing Katherine… would you have been gone sooner?” He asked, staring at his hands.

“I don’t know…” You admitted. “When you died, She told me that my work wasn’t done. So maybe I wasn’t supposed to save you from Katherine directly. Maybe I was supposed to save you from the person you would spiral in to after Katherine…”

“You mean the Ripper?” He chuckled slightly.

“Perhaps.” You answered. “My purpose was never perfectly clear to me because you had never prayed for help or guidance. I was sent as a protective measure, to not let it get to that point, but I failed you early.”

“You never failed me, Y/N.” He said, finally lifting his gaze to yours. He put a hand on your knee and the burning sensation you felt through your limbs cooled slightly. “Not once.”

“This is bittersweet, isn’t it?” You commented. “I’ve known you for over a hundred years… I’ve seen you mature from a young, naive mortal to a self-indulgent addict, to who you are now… A strong, sure, confident, beautiful person with that same bright smile and kind eyes as he did in 1864…” You smiled slightly. He said nothing. “Stef, you don’t have anything to say?” He shook his head. “Why?”

Because I’m lost.” He admitted with tears in his eyes.”I’m lost because I don’t think I can do this without you. I need you, Y/N, now more than ever before. You’ve been by my side for my entire immortality. And now I’m just supposed to go on for God knows how long without you? I don’t think I can…”

“No, no you don’t need me anymore, sweetheart.” You shook your head sadly. Using your free hand, you gently placed it on his cheek. “You think you need me now because I have to go. You’re afraid to be alone, said of the unknown. And it’s okay to not know what’s coming next. But She knows that you’ll be perfectly fine without me now. This has been a long time coming, Stefan. I’ve been fighting it and fighting it but I cannot fight forever.”

“What am I going to do without you?” He asked sadly. “I love you, Y/N.”

You smiled slightly, despite the suffocating tightness growing in your throat and chest. “I love you too, Stefan, more than you will ever know. I got to know you for who you really are, every flaw and every quirk, even the ones you tried to hide from the public eye. Even before I came down, I was drawn to you. There’s always a deep emotional connection between a guardian and their assignment, a true understanding of every inch of each other, but I never thought I could feel this.”

“I don’t want to do this without you, Y/N.” He said your name again, almost with the hope that if he said it enough, you’d stay.

“I know, my dear.” You nodded, fighting back your own tears. The tears came form the physical pain coursing through your body and the emotional pain that you felt in your soul. “But I believe in you. I always have. It had truly been my honor to guide you to greatness. You are by far the sweetest, kindest, most loving, most compassionate, most generous soul that I have every interacted with.”

The pain hit its pinnacle. There was an overwhelming pressure in your head. Your eyes couldn’t stand the light. Your fingers and toes were numb. You felt your wings lazily expand under you, hardly able to move. Stefan gasped slightly and you realized he had never seen your wings.

“I wish I had shown you these sooner, when they were truly beautiful and graceful.” You whispered.

Acting on nothing but want, you leaned over and gently pressed your lips to Stefan’s. He kissed you back gently and his lips were wet and a bit salty from his tears. You opened your hand, letting the ring fall to the mattress.

You watched as your physical form faded, as if it was all an optical illusion. His eyes opened slowly and he saw what you had left for him. He took it and held it tightly. Everyone else walked in a few moments later, comforting him on his loss. The tears were everywhere and you could feel the love in the room.

You realized that you were still there. You looked around in confusion when you caught Bonnie’s gaze.

You shushed her and she nodded slightly, understanding that she was the one that saw you. You also saw her eyes widen slightly and you realized your wings were full expanded and were beautifully weightless, just as they had been before. You were clothed in your sleek gown instead of the mundane clothes. Your eyes had returned to their blinding white. The golden halo circled low on your head.

“I can’t believe she’s really gone.” Stefan muttered, holding the ring in his closed fist under his chin.

“She’s always with us…” Bonnie replied. You gave her a soft smile of thanks, understanding that you could no longer speak. “Wherever we go from here, she’ll look out for us.”

Your view changed and you were now watching from above. You weren’t sure what to expect but this wasn’t quite it.

If you had just come back when I had sent for you, you would’ve seen that you weren’t abandoning him… You were coming home until he calls for you again.

You looked to Her, confusion and hope twisting your features.

He might call out for you again. He might not. You might get sent just to protect him from something he won’t survive. But… I can assure you, he will never forget about you.

Guardian-Stefan Salvatore Pt.3

//dually requested:  PART THREE OF GUARDIAN WHERE STEFAN CALLS OUT FOR HER OMG PLEASE P.s you’re writing is amazing, thank you so much// //omg pls do a part 3 of guardian I’m in love//

//pairings: angel!reader x stefan. warnings: dEATH??!?!?1? //

You had continued to watch Stefan for years. It felt as if time just didn’t pass the same since you came home. She told you to stop watching him so often, that it’s only tormenting you. She said to be happy for him, to appreciate that you were able to guide him to such a steady point in his life. As happy as you were for him, as much as seeing his smile made your heart warm, you couldn’t help but be a bit selfish and wish you were there with him. You wished you could hear his laugh, to hug him tight, to hear his voice at all. You wanted his bright, kind eyes to meet yours in a crowded room.

You were glad he was happy, when you really thought about it. You just didn’t like that She was constantly reminding you that was happy without you.

Y/N… I could really use you right about now… I don’t know what to do. We’re pretty sure Katherine’s back… Oh and I’m human again, but you probably already knew that… I don’t even know if you’re still around. A sign or some advice would be really great right now. If she’s really back.. You tried to save me from her once and I wouldn’t listen. Maybe I should’ve. And when she came back before- Look the point is, I need help.

You heard what sounded like Stefan’s voice ringing through the Heavens but you knew only you and Her heard it. You watched as you saw him sitting in his room, holding the ring you had left him and talking to the sky. He was calling out for you!

She shook her head slightly. Not yet, my angel. You are excited, I understand, but let’s not jump into something that he might not truly need you for.

That’s the way it had gone for the past few years. There would be times where he would ask for you, say that it’d be easier if you were beside him. But it was never enough for her to send you back. When he was drowning over and over again, She wouldn’t send you. She said his brother would come. After a full summer, Elena led them to Stefan. You could’ve saved him when it all began if She had just let you go.

When his mother turned out to be alive, he learned he had a son at one point but his mother’s lunatic of a boyfriend had ended the pregnancy swiftly. He cried when he was alone, saying that just how heartbroken he was, how he had a chance at being a father stripped away from him. He asked for your advice, a sign that you were still watching out for him because he didn’t quite feel like you were.

When Rayna Cruz, the ruthless vampire hunter had marked him, he called for you. He challenged your existence, saying that you had abandoned him and now that he needed you the most, you were no where to be seen. Even then, She said he was speaking out of fear and anger. She assured you that there was no ill-will intended and he still held you in his heart. But She promised that it would pass on it’s own.

The Heavens used to feel like home. There was a time when you would’ve given anything to have your sleek gowns, your golden halo, and your weightless wings while you sat by your viewing spot and watched the mundanes. There was a time when you hated being on Earth, believed it was boring and there would never be enough guardians to save the mundanes from themselves.

But in those moments, those times when She brushed off Stefan’s pleas, you wanted nothing more than to be there. You didn’t understand what it was going to take for Her to release you from what felt like your new prison.

But you felt it, you felt that something wasn’t right. Your stomach churned due to what you could only assume was something with Stefan since you never felt physical ailments in the Heavens.

Quickly, you focused in on him. You saw him and his brother standing near Elena’s empty coffin. Suddenly, it seemed like Elena had woken but all three of you, you and the Salvatores, realized it at the same time.

Katherine.

She summoned you to her and when you approached, she finally released you.

This is it. I will send you back but I must tell you, this is the end of your time. The relationship between you and Stefan has broken every law we keep and while I cannot let a mortal’s pleas go unassisted, I cannot allow this to continue after this. Only one of you will survive this ordeal. But if you live, my angel, you will not return here. You’ll finish your time on the mortal realm as a mortal.

But you didn’t care about whatever threatened. You didn’t care what you had to face. You had to ensure that Stefan survived, even if he was human now. You’d rather him survive and start a family and be happy than you survive, knowing you couldn’t save him.

You were on the steps of the Salvatore house. You could hear Stefan and Damon inside, along with Katherine. Quietly, you entered the house, searching for the boys.

“That’s for me to know and you to dot dot dot.” You heard Katherine say as you entered the room.

Her eyes widened slightly, her posture straightening. Instantly, she remembered you. You couldn’t quite tell if she was afraid of you or if she respected you, either way you got her attention.

You wiggled your fingers in greeting her with a slight smirk, something you had picked up from the mortals.

“You.” She said angrily. “I thought you were gone.”

“Funny.” You replied with a laugh. “We all thought the same thing about you, Miss Katherine.”

“Y/N?” Stefan asked in awe.

“Is that really you?” Damon asked quietly.

“It’s really me. One last time.” You smiled as Stefan walked up to you and hugged you tightly.

“What do you mean by that?” Damon asked as he approached you.

“Well, I suppose it’s a bit of a long story.” You explained carefully. You were scared to tell them the truth. If you survived whatever was coming, you wouldn’t go back to the Heavens. You’d live out your time as a mortal, which would be fine, but if you survived you figured Stefan wouldn’t. “You see, while I was in the Heavens-”

“Who cares?” You heard Katherine groan as she shoved past the Salvatores to stand in front of you. “I should’ve killed you back in 1864 when I had the chance.” She threatened.

“Oh, sweet Katherine.” You shook your head. “You couldn’t have killed me if you tried. You see, you mock me for being an angel but it has blessed me with immortality, power, and true goodness. You might not understand that idea but there are pure hearts in this world. And I intend to save one of them.”

“Stefan?” She replied and you simple nodded. “He’s no pure heart. If anything, he has the darkest heart out of all of us in this room.”

“You’re wrong.” You defended him. “He has had his low point as all on this realm have. But in his soul, he is good. I would not be here if he wasn’t worth saving.”

“But who’s gonna save you?” She said with fake concern before leaving.

A few moments of silence passed between you and the Salvatores. You sighed, knowing they were going to have questions.

“Where have you been?” Stefan asked softly.

She wouldn’t let me come.” You said truthfully. “She said that your brother would help you or that it would pass. But this, what’s coming next, you won’t survive if you do this.”

“What’s the long story you have?” Damon asked.

“I heard your cries, all of them… I wasn’t allowed to come for you. And of course, She knows what is best so as much as I wanted to, I couldn’t question her. I apologize that I couldn’t save you from Rayna Cruz, or from drowning in that safe, or from your mother and the heartbreak that came with Valerie. I am so sorry! If I could’ve helped you Stef, believe me I would’ve in an instant.” You gushed, your heart aching when you admitted just how guilty you felt. Maybe you didn’t have to feel guilty, it’s not as if you didn’t want to help him. You were simply overruled.

“It’s okay.” He said softly, still in awe that you were back. “You’re here now, and that’s what matters.”

“As thrilled as I am that you’re back…” Damon trailed off. “What’s coming?”

“Not a what, but a who. And well, you already saw her. Katherine.” You exclaimed, instantly reminded of your purpose. Protect Stefan. “Stefan, when she enacts her plan, you think you’ll be able to stop her but I’m telling you now that you’ll die.”

“Well, isn’t this fitting?” Damon said bitterly. “The first time you were here you told Stefan the same thing, that he’d die if he tried to stop Katherine.”

“And here we are again.” You smiled sadly. “Will you actually listen to me this time?” You teased slightly.

“You can’t do it alone.. I won’t let you.” He argued.

“That’s not up to you.” You said firmly. “Stefan, you have a wife now. Caroline loves you with her entire heart and soul. I’m not letting you die on your wedding night. I’d give up my life a thousand times over if it meant you got to live happily.”

“I wasn’t-” He tried to correct you, willing to spill some story about how he wasn’t happy without you. Yes, he had more than his fair share of trials and tribulations but that didn’t mean deep down, he wasn’t happy.

You had watched as he and Caroline had found a home within each other. She had been there for him, through everything since you had to go. You were grateful to Caroline, feeling as if you owed her so much for taking care of him. She promised she’d make you proud, and she did that and more.

"You were. Deep down, you were happy.” You assured him softly.

October 14, 1977, Anita Bryant is pied for her antigay bigotry at a press conference in Des Moines, IA.

It was 40 years ago today…

Never gets old.

40 years on and it still is gratifying

Anita’s still alive and kicking and being anti-gay. Thom Higgins, who threw the pie when he was 27 – and was poetically from Beaver Dam – passed away 17 years later at 44. Info on his life is here. The pie throwing was a big deal. In an age before the internet let gays feel connected, and long before ACT UP, the pie showed small pockets of gays that we could fight back.

it showed that gays were human beings, who might be in the room with you, that you had been accepting as being equals and treating as people. you didnt suspect them as bieng gay, why should you treat them different after? do they become less human after finding out? i mean, its almost like you just found out they have an oppinion on your bullshit

She was “pied” on TV.  All across the country, people got to see proof that the LGBT community weren’t going to just sit there and take it.  People who thought they had no choice but to stay silent saw a horrible woman get humiliated on live TV.

One of the best moments in television history.

We don’t even need Disney. Shoutout to the young black writers, directors, producers, animators, we can make it happen.

I want to see her get a portrait like a typical modern service picture. Face on, medals showing, the whole bit.

Say her name.

Here’s some pics of her bust in Leavenworth Texas!
