Henna

Fashion project from 2009 by Amrita Kulkarni allows Henna tattoos to feature electronic components thanks to a skin-safe conductive material:

Nurturing a henna skill from my childhood, I continue to pursue a professional services role for Indian weddings. Further exploration includes work for Bare Conductive, an enterprise by Innovation Design Engineering graduates of 2009. The Bare Conductive team invented electrically conductive yet skin-safe ink. We explored the language of henna on the skin, embellished with LEDs and 3V batteries incorporated within the pattern. The thickness of lines was key, as it is inversely proportional to the resistance generated. Future explorations planned are on walls, lamps, floor decorations, as forehead bindi, tattoos, etc.
