Summary: This story is a collection of scenes (mostly from Buggy's and Shanks's childhood and young teenage years), full of sad!hurt!Shanks, who's haunted by nightmares after being sexually abused, and Buggy dealing with his redhead's nightly terrors and odd behaviors throughout the day (not to mention his own insecurities).

Or: Shanks develops a lot of very unhealthy coping mechanisms, and it takes Buggy years to understand what has happened to his friend.

Don't know how it happened, but I'm currently writing this messy 15/20/? pages+ Shuggy fanfic no one ever asked for because it's basically a collection of scenes (mostly from their childhood and young teenage years) full of sad!hurt!Shanks, who's haunted by nightmares after being sexually abused, and Buggy dealing with his redhead's nightly terrors and odd moods throughout the day (not to mention his own insecurities). Eventually, of course, Buggy gets old enough to connect the dots since a 13-year-old Shanks getting completely sloshed and crying his heart out because he only wishes for a kiss worth remembering isn't exactly a subtle hint after he has been forced to admit he had been kissed before. And who is Buggy to deny him such a wish?

Will it only get more complicated once they're young adults/grown-ups? Yup. Did I only intend to write a short hurt/comfort fic that has gotten completely out of hand? Definitely. Is the first chapter at least somewhat ready to be posted? Surely not. Will it take me forever to finish this? :,-) :,-) *hear me cry*
