Less queer struggles, more queer snuggles.

I love Matilda because it's a story about a child who sees injustice around her and gets mad about it and questions why things aren't fair, and instead of the ending being that she learns how the world works and that life isn't fair, she catapults one of the adults who abused her out of a building with her mind

Drawing in mspaint? Cool, impressive,  But whenever I see that, I think about the person who makes their art in power point  Every time I see them it boggles me

Y'all if you like this PLEASE check out @lylahcomorbid she paints in Microsoft Word and it looks AMAZING

I can barely put an image and text into word what magic is this

Gonna have to complete this group with Tatsuo Horiuchi, the 80 year old Japanese artist who makes his paintings on Microsoft Excel:

The gator is the whole point. It's a stand-in for the author that has felt the need to suppress the aspects of themself that others find unappealing, their anger, their sadness, the things people find abrasive or just "weird" in order to make themself more digestible for the people around them because the alternative is to be alone. The gator is only "cute" and "lovable" because it was not allowed to be anything else.

Any conspiracy theory about people going missing in National Parks is automatically silly to me. Like "Why are National Parks such a hotbed of disappearances???" because they're full of idiots. You've got thousands of people who've never pissed outdoors in their life wandering around the woods/desert/mountain with zero experience and zero gear and zero understanding that this place can kill them. You don't see as many disappearances in wild areas because people don't go to them unless they have some background knowledge. Whereas you get tour buses full of old folks and suburban families shuttling people into National Parks 365 days a year. If you took the same amount of buffoons and dropped them in the actual wilderness the disappearances would be significantly higher than at the parks. Use your brain.

Some fun stuff from the notes:

  • park ranger who has seen people spread bacon grease on their campsite in the hopes of seeing a bear
  • British person who is appalled that North American national parks kill people
  • people who lure bison calves away from their mothers to photograph them
  • a lot of it involves bison
  • a LOT of it involves people trying to swim in the yellowstone thermal vents
  • woman who tried to retrieve her dropped cell phone from a pit toilet and FELL IN
  • Lots of people reminding me that caves are a problem too. I know, I just try to forget that caves exist because I hate them.
  • Guys who tried to hike the entire length of Florida in flip flops
  • Someone who approached a bear cub because they thought it was a raccoon
  • Someone who works at an unspecified national monument and says dead bodies keep turning up at the picnic area (Hello???)
  • A few Alaskans laughing at everyone
  • Scottish person who wishes their parks were as effective at killing tourists as ours are
  • A few NPS staffmembers saying the NPS is far, far too incompetent to wage any sort of large scale conspiracy about disappearances
  • Several death threats against David Paulides
  • People accusing me of being Bigfoot (I plead the fifth)
  • A group who got on a raft in a river assuming it would loop back around... like at a waterpark
  • Person recalling a time they saw a hiker "saved by monkeys" but did not elaborate on that
  • BISON

There's this perception on here among neurodivergent people that neurotypical social behaviour is all fake and arbitrary. That it's a cruel, baseless game played to "weed out" ND people or to cause pain and complicate things on purpose.

This is wrong. All of those social rules and nuances ARE communication. Sorry if this is rude but it's not the NTs' fault if things don't gel- the gap goes both ways. Just because communication doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean it's random or purposeless. Remember this post?

Every interaction in an NT conversation has purpose, and communicates something, and I don't understand why nobody ever explains this to ND people. There's information on basic stuff like facial expressions, but never what any of it actually means.

Small talk about the weather isn't about the weather. It's about how nice it is to be around the people you're talking to, or feeling out their understanding of the world, or just saying that you're both present and people and you're being people together. It's not literal. The words are, but the broad scope isn't.

A conversation is not just an exchange of words, it's an exchange of acknowledgement, attention, and emotional understanding. Of course it confuses people when their part in that exchange is met with flat affect or unembelished words. It's like looking in a mirror and not seeing your reflection.

While this article frames them in terms of romantic relationships, I find that "bids" often appear in relationships of all kinds. We may interact with those bids differently or have different expectations related to bids depending on the kind of relationship we have with someone, but realistically, a lot of how we interact with each other in the world, especially fiddly little social cues and expectations, have to do with these!

The way we choose to respond to, prioritize, and make bids within our various relationships can have a lot to do with how connected we feel with others, how effectively we are able to communicate our needs and capacities, and how comfortable/secure we are able to be with others.

i am unfortunately, really and truly, longing for queerbait. no piece of media will ever make me go more insane than ones with two women who care for each other more deeply than anyone else in the world and who look at each other like they hung the fucking moon and every time they’re in each other’s vicinity there’s this palpable tension.. and then off to the left there’s a painfully average man who they’re fighting over for some reason. he knows maybe two facts about each of them and he gets their birthdays confused if he remembers them at all. these are the building blocks off which the best fanfic you’ve ever read in your life is made
