People who aren’t panic buying and just need basic necessities

Because we can all use a bit of good news, here’s how Vietnamese people are dealing with COVID-19:

Sometimes I used to wonder what regular folks were doing during eventful periods in history.

Now I’m living in one and yeah, it turns out the answer is laundry, barely.

why can’t people accept “the media is over-hyping coronavirus” and “coronavirus is concerning given the lack of knowledge surrounding it” are both true? like can I order some nuance

and also "stop panicking about dying because most deaths will be due to previous immunocompromisation" and "we should work to reduce the spread as much as possible to keep those immunocompromised safe" are both true

i hate when rich people condescend with the whole 'money can't buy happiness' argument like listen. just because buying your fourth car didn't fill the void in your deluded disconnected-from-reality life doesn't mean not having to worry about food/ bills/medicine wouldn't greatly improve the mental health of literally everyone else on the planet

In Singapore, people who suspect they have COVID-19 can go to clinic for checkup, for which they are charged a subsided rate of 10 dollars (7 USD). If you are confirmed to have it, you will then be immediately transported to the public hospital for treatment, and this bill is paid for in full by the government.

People are also required to take a 2 week leave of absence from work if they came back from listed countries (currently China and Korea), or if people in contact with them have been confirmed with COVID-19. This leave is fully subsided by the government. Any companies caught “encouraging” employees to flout these rules have been punished by penalities.

Combined, these aim to let people of all economic backgrounds have no hesitation in medically isolating themselves for the greater good.

It’s one of the reasons why Singapore started from one of the top 3 countries in the world in terms of patient numbers and dropped to 7th, while many other countries skyrocketed.

as you get older, you realize that you’re not always right and there’s so many things you could’ve handled better, so many situations where you could’ve been kinder and all you can really do is forgive yourself and let your mistakes make you a better person.

Sure wish I was seeing this one circulating more than the other ones without the information literacy component.
