“Well, I’ll learn to like her. It’s fine,”

What he didn’t say was ‘it has to be fine’.

"It's not fine!"

“My brother will be taking over the family company. He needs to make a good connection to another family through his wife. Besides… he actually seems to like her,”

"Yeah but she doesn't like you and you don't like her," she said.

Ren looked away and glowered at the ground, “Doesn’t matter if I do. It needs to work,”

"Why?"

“I just don’t know her. I’m sure it’ll get better.”

He knew he was lying to himself, but this marriage had to work.

"Do you even believe that?" Yui asked, getting in close.

“So, do I have to convince you to like my future sister in law?”

"What?! But you don't even like her!"

Ren groaned, “Hun, you can’t make me like him,”

"I can keep trying!"

“I keep saying I’m not comfortable with you, and no one listens to that,” Ren grumbled.

"Ren!" Yui pouted.

“Look, just drop it, okay? I did it for you. I supported you two against my better judgement. If I’m too jittery around her people are gonna talk. They’re a good match. I’m not screwing this up for him.”

"Your safety should come first," Hiro said sternly. "If you aren't comfortable around her, that's alright. Who cares what people say. Be honest."

“She just doesn’t know me yet and she’s protective of Seiichirou. She’s trying. She’s just… awkward.”

"Just be careful," Hiro said.

Ren raised an eyebrow, “She from a family of assassins. Scary’s what she does. She’s fine,”

He was lying out of his ass in saying she was fine, but Hiro didn’t need to know that.

"She ain't fine..." Yui commented.

"She really isn't," Hiro added. "I can understand why she doesn't like me. But why Ren?"

Ren just shook his head, “You’ve made that clear. It doesn’t matter now. Sei’s… Hiromi may try too hard with me, but Seiichirou’s actually happy.”

"Still... and you may already have realized this... but be careful around her," Hiro said.

"No kidding," Yui said. "She seemed super scary."

“I know you did. I just really thought the two of you were happy together,” he sighed, “I thought you had fallen in love with Seiichirou and forgotten all about the thing I ASKED you NOT to do,”

"Nope," he replied. "Never loved him. I didn't mean to deceive you, but I had to put on a good act for Seiichirou."

“ No. I didn’t know there was a plan. I thought he was in love with my brother. I really though they were gonna get married. I don’t want anyone to ever have to experience what I did, not even my brother. He says he did it for me, maybe to justify it or make himself feel better, but I had no idea what was going on,”

"You know, I did say I was going to get revenge for you since the very beginning," Hiro said. "Maybe you forgot or just didn't know what I meant by 'revenge'. But I did say it."

Ren was frozen, staring at Hiro. He looked back at Yui, “Why didn’t you tell me he told you this? You knew about this and don’t get why he freaks me out?”

"Yeah," she said. "I mean, he did it for you. And it was his plan from the beginning, right? Did you think he wouldn't really do it?"

“He told-“

Ren slowly turned to Hiro, “And how many other people have you told?” He asked coolly.

"I only told Yui-chan," Hiro replied. "I needed to tell someone and I knew I could trust her."

Ren’s head snapped back, “You know what he did to my brother?”

"Of course I do," Yui replied. "He told me."
