Her fur was strong, not soft and delicate like a pampered hound’s would be— but like a wild animal, exposed to the elements, left to fight them on her own; she was no pet he knew this; but she didn’t have to be an enemy, even if his father had killed a direwolf— or so it was said he had.

He knows she won’t respond, but the fact of the matter is the shewolf is far from the comfort of the North, but in the dangers of the South.
