Marcia Ziffren recently took the Monochrom to Cuba. Click through to see all of Marcia's photos and read her thoughts on shooting black and white in a place as colorful as Havana: http://www.leicastorela.com/the-monochrom-in-cuba/
The people of Cuba left an indelible impact on photographer Marcia Ziffren: “They were just extraordinary loving, soulful people who are living in conditions many wouldn’t even want to visit, yet they have a joy for life and it comes across in every aspect of their living.”
Come back tomorrow for the full gallery of Marcia’s journey to Cuba
Marcia Ziffren recently took her Monochrom to Cuba and the result is full of warmth: “In L.A and in a number of cosmopolitan U.S. cities, people are very uncomfortable with having their photo taken; they’re guarded and worried about what you’re going to do with the picture. But, in a place like Havana, there isn’t the same problem.”
Why use the Monochrom in Cuba? "I can get to the essence of the story." Join us this week online as we share our friend Marcia Ziffren's journey to Cuba.

The Leica S System at Salton Sea
The Leica S System's 12-stop dynamic range makes it a natural fit for landscape photographers accustomed to using the zone-system. These photos of the Salton Sea were made by Gary Faye, an accomplished photographer whose work has appeared in print and galleries throughout the country. Gary attended several Ansel Adams workshops toward the beginning of his photographic career and took those fundamentals to develop the distinct style we see in these breathtaking photos. Thank you, Gary!
Discover the Leica X Vario

The Leica S and Dynamic Range
The Leica S system's wide dynamic range is on display in this photo from young photographer Marley Maron of the Thousand Oaks Public Library. Even though her exposure was set perfectly for an interior shot, you can see the trees in daylight outside of the window. The expressive freedom opened up by this range is a hallmark of the Leica S.
Visit the store to try it for yourself! The Leica S and full range of lenses are available for rent from our store:

My First Leica-Keegan Allen
We've been enjoying your #MyFirstLeica stories and today we are happy to share our friend Keegan Allen's story:
My first Leica was an M6 given to me by my father when I was 11. My dad explained how it would never go out of style. He was an actor that loved photography and painting. He had a lot of cameras, but his Leica was his favorite and most used tool.
I spent my summers saving up to buy one of my own. I wanted his camera so bad that I would go to sleep at night dreaming I had my own and of the romantic idea of growing up with it, always at my side; it would become a part of me. I imagined the camera with me on assignments as a young man and eventually passing it on to my kid in the autumn years of my life.
One lucky day, my father let me "borrow" his Leica. But he never asked me for it back. He would just smile and watch me capture moments.
I felt like an artistic superhero and would pretend to be Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Photography is still a major part of my life. Even though my father is no longer with me, every time I click the shutter I see him smile. And now, I have a collection of Leicas to bring with me everywhere and capture these moments.
Thank you, Keegan!
