i’m going to keep an eye on markiplier and see what he says/does because this is genuinely surprising behavior! maybe he’s doing it to avoid backlash from pewd’s fans, maybe it’s a case of misguided kindness. who knows right now! but yeah that’s a damn shame to see him supporting pewds :S hopefully he listens to his followers and ceases support and apologizes for it but yeah. we’ll just have to wait and see.

The amount of people blaming the “media” or ‘overly sensitive people” for Pewds Youtube Special being cancelled is absurd. If you want to blame anyone for it being cancelled blame Pewds. Stop coddling Youtubers and acting like there should be no consequences for their actions when they do terrible shit.
It wasn’t just a joke, it wasn’t just “dark humor”, it was a phrase that’s been used to oppress and hurt people. And it’s a phrase that’s being thrown around a lot now by the same Neo Nazi’s that have called in over 50 bomb threats to synagogues throughout the US.
I’m not impressed with Pewds trying to shift the blame onto others so he can get his fandom riled up to defend him and to silence his critics. I’m not impressed with him only apologizing “for offending people” instead of recognizing why saying shit like that is wrong and hurtful. But at the same time I’m not surprised at all. And that’s the saddest part.
1. I think the WSJ *did* take some things out of context 2. I think this apology is…Acceptable. I mean it’s telling that he only made it after Disney and YouTube cut him off, but it did seem like a genuine apology. Whether he will really learn from his mistakes only time can tell.

He’s still holding up that it’s a joke to say “death to Jews.” And he completely dismisses the idea that putting “death to Jews” on a platform is normalizing anti-semitism when he already talked about how the Daily Stormer loves him! And just because he isn’t aware that the Daily Stormer loves him doesn’t mean that it isn’t true or that he doesn’t have an obligation to think about that and how it affects minorities targeted by Nazis this seemed like him bitching about being called out more than an apology. did the wall street journal take past videos out of context? certainly sounds like it, and I’m even willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that. But there is zero excuse for this video and he’s still trying to act like there isn’t a problem. When Nazis love you, there’s a problem. he said he’ll think about it and take all of this to heart, more or less. but this wasn’t an apology, and only time will tell if he meant it.
Also why the fuck do you think those ppl will put anything on a sign? It’s bc their poor! It’s like laughing bc “haha they are poor and we can tell them to do whatever and they will do it” AND thinking that “death to Jews” even on ANY LEVEL is okay.

It would be really nice if people could please stop claiming that it took an antisemitic joke for Disney to drop PewDiePie despite all his prior racist and misogynistic content.
PewDiePie has expressed antisemitic sentiments in his videos long before this incident with fiverr.
August 7, 2016: PewDiePie, wearing a Make America Great Again hat, begins his video with a swastika and other Nazi imagery, and uses a photo of Hitler as a segue between clips
September 24, 2016: In a video criticising YouTube policy, he shows a clip of Hitler giving a speech
October 15, 2016: PewDiePie posts swastikas drawn by his fans
December 8, 2016: PewDiePie wears a brown military uniform while watching a Hitler clip at the end of his video
Antisemitic website the Daily Stormer has also given PewDiePie praise for Nazi imagery in his videos, writing:

This latest video is unapologetically full-Nazi.
The guy has 52 million subscribers, compared to the number 2 YouTuber that has 30 million. He is arguably the most watched person on the planet.
And he is pushing hardcore GTKRWN materials.

At the very least, he is making the masses comfortable with our ideas.

So please understand that he’s targeted Jews in the past without major outrage or punishment. He’s used Nazi imagery as a joke in his videos before. The “death to all Jews” video that caused outrage wasn’t the first antisemitic video PewDiePie posted. He’s also racist and misogynistic and he should have been called out on these things and dropped a long time ago.
But his antisemitic content neither began nor ended with the Fiverr video.
