I am studying writing as a MAJOR and I’m pretty sure Juvia’s development is poorly done , as a matter of fact she only talks about Gray , and very dependent on him, she even complained about not bieng with him when MAKAROV is missing and might be dead, please if you have something to prove either provide evidence instead of calling me a “hater” for criticizing a poorly written character that you like :)

For your culture, I’ve watched more than 60 animes and I still have more on the pending list. And don’t you dare calling some animes “crappy” in front of people who are watching them, have some respect.

I don’t like arguing with someone, but I have to disagree. Juvia ISN’T a poorly written character, all the people who hate on her are saying the same thing about her, I mean the fact that she’s always after Gray. That’s not true, she’s only in love. Juvia and Lucy get the a lot of hate, if you don’t like one of them it’s okay, but don’t say things about them which aren’t true. Every character has an importance, imagine how broken would be the fandom if Juvia would disappear.

It’s true that there are plenty of people who dislike Juvia, and she legitimately isn’t for everyone. That’s fair. But what I really can’t stand is when people act like Juvia never interacts with/cares about anyone else. That’s just not true.

Her relationship with Lucy was hugely expanded on in the Tower of Heaven arc

She helped search for Natsu, who she barely knew

She sacrificed herself for Cana during the Battle of Fairy Tail

She comforted Merudy, who was her enemy at the time

She bonded with Aquarius while in the Celestial Spirit World

She goes to check on Lucy when she’s in the hospital

She worries about Mira, Elfman, Lisanna, and Erza

She goes with Gajeel, Lily, Elfman, Mira, Lisanna, and Cana to find Makarov

She spends time bonding with Erza

She hangs out with the girls at Fairy Hills

She joins in Team Natsu’s conversation

She teams up with Lisanna for the S-Class trial

She protects Gajeel and Lucy from Keyes

I could show some more examples, but we’d be here all day.

Look, I’m not saying that you have to like Juvia. You don’t. But even if you’ve only read the manga, it’s unfair to deny how far Juvia’s come. The thing about character development is that a lot of the time it develops more than one character, so denying Juvia’s character development is denying several other characters’ development as well.

If you’re really a major in writing, then you should understand that you aren’t going to like every character. You wanted some evidence, @soomuchplot​, and now you’ve got some. Oh and about Juvia not caring about Makarov?

A lot of your “evidence” was from earlier on in the series. The Juvia at the Tower of Heaven was much better than the Juvia now. She showed that she actually does care about Lucy, and that was when a lot of us liked her. But you can’t say that Juvia is the same, sweet person she was before. Because it’s not true.

Juvia’s interactions with Meredy were nice, but a lot of the time she was thinking about “Gray-sama~”. She sacrificed herself for Cana, which was probably a high point in her character development. But the amount of times she’s spent bonding with the girls is nothing compared to all the times she has obsessed over Gray and talked about Gray. 

Juvia being with Team B is a sucky example of her character. She didn’t want to be with them. She was complaining that she wasn’t with Gray for fuck’s sake! And Juvia teamed up with Lisanna only because she couldn’t be with Gray, so it’s not like she would choose Lisanna over Gray. 

We never said “Juvia is a heartless bitch who doesn’t care about anyone”, we said that Juvia’s character revolves completely around Gray and needs more interactions with people where she doesn’t mention Gray, because she barely has any. Pictures of Juvia smiling when she sees Makarov don’t make her seem like the beautiful angel you depict her to be. Because if you go through the last few chapters, she’s always mentioning Gray or standing with him. 

This is what I mean when I say they always use the same arguments that don’t back up anything.

So no one is gonna point out how they said they don’t watch the anime and that doesn’t mean they don’t read the series? The anime is filled with fillers and so many don’t watch it. Please do not talk down on the OP for that. But Juvia has complained about much of her interactions as of late. She got fucking sick cause Gray left her. It wasn’t cause Fairy Tail Disbanded and Gray left her. SHE STOOD OUTSIDE IN THE RAIN DEPRESSED CAUSE SHE AIN’T FOUND HIM. SHE WAS PERFECTLY CONTENT TO BE ALONE WITH HIM. THE GUILD DISBANDING DIDN’T AFFECT HER MUCH AND SHE HARDLY BROUGHT IT UP CAUSE IT WAS THE HAPPIEST 6 MONTHS OF HER LIFE AS SHE CLAIMED. While Lucy was depressed and still functioned like a normal person. Please don’t act like she’s had 80 million interactions outside of a love interest. Half the time she is really disrespecting Lucy by calling her love rival and making it seem like ‘she sunk her claws into another man’. She’s gotten jealous of Levy and Frosch an exceed as of recent chapters just because Gray paid them the slightest bit of attention. people have a right to point out her flaws and dislike her character or like her character but please stop making it seem like she’s an angel and we’re all haters.AND LET’S NOT FORGET SHE DEVELOPED HIS RUNNING GAG, HIS STRIPPING HABIT. BUT SHE’S HER OWN PERSON??? SHE DRESSED CONSERVATIVELY AND NOW SHE’S STRIPPING. JUST STOP

And who said the person who confessed this doesn't read the manga? Quite the contrary, he is explicitely saying he doesn't watch the anime which is indeed filled with many unnecessary fillers, so he perfectly knows the "manga-Juvia" people try to desperately praise to the skies with arguments that in the end actually back up nothing at all. I wouldn't call myself a Juvia-hater or a Gruvia-hater. I just wish Mashima would finally start portraying her as a strong individual person. An independent young woman whos world doesn't revolve solely around "Gray-sama".
