I couldn’t help but sneak peeks through the gaps in the computers, watching Dean. Watching as he laughed, leaning back in his chair and stretching his arms just enough for the bottom of his shirt to lift up an inch and reveal a sliver of skin. Every now and then he would run his fingers through his hair and ruffle it slightly. It was longer than usual, and it suited him. I imagined running my hands through his hair, gripping on and pulling his face towards mine…
As if he knew I was staring, Dean suddenly looked up and caught my eye through the tiniest gap. I felt my cheeks instantly flush red as they always did, and jerked back in my chair so quickly I almost fell off it.
“Shit shit shit shit shit…” I muttered to myself, logging out of the computer and stuffing my things into my bag as quickly as possible, fully intending to leg it out of the common room and hide from Dean for the rest of the day in the woods behind the school. Just as I was desperately trying to zip up my bag, I heard a cough. I froze, and slowly turned around to find Dean standing over me, grinning.
So I'm just working and then within 5 minutes Destiel is Canon and suddenly I am 18 again sitting in my childhood bedroom writing shitty fanfic

This is such a big thing for people in the fanfiction community. Years and years of being told that fanfiction isn’t real writing and that it’s wrong or disgusting. The message that Neil, Michael, and David send is so important for the kids in fanfic that feel ashamed or guilty about writing or reading fanfiction.
All of this is magnificent but “You are most welcome to very fuck off” is a crowning glory on this post.

THINGS WRITERS NEED TO HEAR
- you are allowed to take a break. you don’t have to write if you don’t feel like it.
- everyone has their own pace. it doesn’t matter if you writer one page or ten pages a day, you are still a writer.
- your first draft is going to suck. every first draft or every book has sucked. i’ll get better and better as you edit. that’s what editing is for, making your work actually good.
- experiment. try out new routines, new styles, new genres. it’ll never harm you. you’ll gain experience and become a better writer. you’ll understand what suits you and what doesn’t.
- you don’t need publishing to be a writer. publishing is just an option but if you don’t want to you can just keep your writing to yourself.
- if you write, then you’re a writer. no matter how much experience you have, what genre you write, if you are published or not. you are a writer.
- everyone is different. everyone has a different style so find your own and rock it. search for inspiration but ultimately focus on what allows you to express your ideas in the best way possible.
- you are doing great. no matter how productive you are, how much you’ve written, how fast you write. you are gonna achieve your goal and it’s gonna feel so good.

Guess the fic I am rewriting!!! This is from Chapter 1...
‘I ended up with the bigger of the two rooms, that came with a pretty intense king sized bed, wardrobes, dressers, a big TV at the foot of the bed, and an ensuite. There was a bay window on one side of the room with a little sofa tucked under it which would have been perfect, if it wasn’t facing directly into one of the neighbours windows.
The houses were built closely enough together that I probably could have reached out and knocked on the window. I made a mental note to myself to ask my parents for some of those lace type curtains that stop people peeking through your windows, and set about unpacking my limited number of possessions.
As I was putting away the last of my clothes, a rap on the window made me jump and drop the armful of socks I was about to throw into a drawer. I spun around and saw a guy leaning out of the window in the house next door, waving at me. So it turns out the houses were close enough to knock on eachothers windows.’

Do any of our followers have a prosthetic arm that has come through injury led amputation? (I really hope that makes sense and is the right phrasing. This is why I need help)
A character in my new book had an arm amputated in his early 20s and I need some insight into adjusting to life with a prosthetic etc. If anyone can help me at all please send a message, I would be so grateful!

Idk how to write psa but there’s an ‘unofficial’ AO3 app that steal a lot of fanfics. I saw mine and @synchronmurmurs fics in it too.
And it kinda monetize our work since they have subscription fee in it. (Refer third pic)
Okay so I’m kinda still just waking up rn, but I had a peek at this app and there is a TON of fics on this thing. Like around 7.5k works? I only checked the DMC category, but I saw a ton of familiar names and fics listed.
Is anybody around who would know more about this sort of thing? Is reporting the app enough to give it a good old double barrel fuck off? Would this be counted as going against AO3’s ToS? I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to even MENTION money on that site, so how would that go for an unaffiliated app?
@synchronmurmurs Unfortunately I found all 43 of my works that are posted on AO3 are on that app; there’s a bunch of “midroll” ads when you’re scrolling down my author feed, as well as a header as every time you click on one of my stories to read.
I’m super not pleased that some rando is making money off of the things that I post for free on AO3. I’m also worried that this is going to end up being some IP thing?? Because all of my works are based on characters I didn’t create, so I hope this doesn’t end up coming back to bite me in the ass instead?
I’m also having a heck of a time reporting the app through Apple’s App Store, so if anyone knows the best way, please lmk!

Wow ALL my stuff is on there and I’m super pissed! The ads basically make it so the creator is profiting from my hard work… hard work that I offer here and on Ao3 for free.

This person has acknowledged on their tumblr that AO3 wants them to take down the app— it’s not a matter of this person wanting to share content anymore. They know they are stealing, and they’re still continuing to do it.
Can everyone report this app please, all of our fics from ao3 are on here. They are stealing our work and making money from it and we are pissed.
