Female

She’d never have actually imagined that when she fell in love with a German man six years older than her, she would end up a widow barely half a decade into the marriage. Born the daughter of an impoverished French tailor, she had only been seventeen when she had first met her future husband. Allowing him to sweep her off of her feet and away from Paris, she ended up in the little town of Waldstadt. Living in her little cottage with her doting husband had been all she ever wanted, until news of the war dropped. From that point on, her life changed when she saw her husband don the brown shirt and join the other men vying to attack the place of her birth. She kept her mouth shut and watched her husband leave, giving him false smiles at his promises to return. Following that moment, she lived in fear every single moment that she’d get that damning letter about her husband’s death. Months passed and nothing happened, she received his letters about the war and ached at the obvious darkness that his words held, noting the change in his writing every time she received a new letter. Then, one day, the letters from him simply stopped and she received a different kind of letter that made her heart shatter. Completely alone in the world, she withdrew into her quiet cottage and only went out when needed, silently grieving for her lost love. The only thing that seemed to rouse her from her silent grief was the sudden crash in the forest. She hadn’t expected to find an unconscious, wounded pilot and she hadn’t expected to drag him back to her cottage. The most shocking thing of all had been that she had done this for aBrit.

Male

He never used to want to be in the army. No, he was simply content to stay back and let his older brother gain all the glory, even though they both were conscripted into service and then the British Air Force. He was more reluctant and rebellious than his older brother, angered that his freedom had been decided for him, until one fateful day when his brother was said to have been killed during an airstrike on a German base. That point on, he became ruthless in his duty to the Air Force, obeying every command and leaping at any opportunity to go take out German planes and bases. So, when the time came and he received a telegram about a squadron of German planes nearby, he took his own squadron out to meet them. It started out the same, with him and his men dropping out from above the clouds to surprise the Germans. He had his own surprise for him, to find double the amount of fighter planes opposing his squadron, his telegram having been tampered with. Seeing his men get shot down like clay birds frustrated him to the point of doing something reckless. He took on the obvious front plane of the squadron and despite the fact that his guns were empty, he collided the nose of his plane into the tail of the others. Sending him spinning toward the forests, it didn’t take long for his plane to go down in the middle of a thick forest and for him to completely lose consciousness. He expected to die in that forest so when he woke up in a warm bed with a woman peering down at him, he was a little shocked.

Female

Don’t let her sweet disposition fool you, she’s got a temper. Born poor, she definitely needed a backbone to survive with only a father to protect her. She’s a definite contradiction though, sometimes incredibly short tempered and others incredibly patient; sometimes she’ll be very gentle in her words and other points, she’ll be very straightforward. She’s not without her flaws though. She can be easily angered but her biggest flaw is not trusting those around her, to feel like she has to do everything because no one else will. No matter how intense she is about guarding herself, she find’s the British pilot both infuriating and amusing to be around, though she has the suspicion that he likes startling her with his blunt words. Her heart’s broken, though, and there are times where she will simply withdraw into herself due to grief. Despite her mourning for her husband, she can’t help but find herself be drawn to the British pilot by both his looks and his ways, but with the continuous patrol of German soldiers controlling the town, can she even survive the end of the war unscathed? Her chances aren’t looking so well when the German commander seems to have his eye on her.

Male

He is a rash, stubborn male to his core.  Having always been a fighter, it almost kills him to be staying in the same cottage, night after night and waiting to heal from his crash. He’s serious most of the time but there are occasions when he’ll sport a rakish smile and a teasing glint in his eye, but now with his brother’s death, that look is becoming rarer by the minute. He’s confused by the anomaly of a caretaker that he has, stunned to know that she’s a Frenchwoman living in Germany with a ring on her finger. He tells himself that it’s wrong for him to watch her like he does, to study her mannerisms as a way of entertainment instead of wasting in the bed but he can’t help it. His temper is something to watch out for, because when his rage redlines, no one around him is safe from his wrath. He’s blunt to the point of being rude and can’t help but enjoy shocking his nursemaid just to see her cheeks turn pink and her eyes to spark with blue fire. Despite the fact that he doesn’t seem it, he’s hiding his despair at the loss of his brother. Tempted by the sorrow-filled beauty, he just wants to see a smile grace her pretty face, but could the lock on her heart from her husband’s death keep him out for good?
