if there is one thing i’ve learned from writing fan fiction in multiple fandoms, it’s to always write what you want to write. you don’t owe anyone anything, although sometimes it feels that way. you are creating art completely free of charge, you are providing a service, creating entertainment. If you aren’t writing what you love, do not write it. It kills your love of writing, and i know this all to well.

the second you start apologising for what you’ve written, stop and think about who you’re doing this for. comments are great. kudos/votes/whatever are great. but don’t let them become your measure of self worth. write what you want to write because you want to write it. take requests if you want, write from prompts, but never force yourself to write when you don’t want to. it’ll fuck your brain and make you associate writing with a chore rather than a hobby
