I reblog a great mix of things - sometimes its NSFW stuff, I do my best to tag those things. Geeky, Fat Positive, kinky, Feminist and pretty things that catch my fancy.

be good to people with memory problems. when someone asks you to repeat an instruction you gave them just twenty minutes ago, or asks you the same question for the fourth time, when your sister forgets to do that thing you’ve told her to for a week, or when your best friend can’t remember your birthdate or anniversary off the top of their head, be good to them, help them out, keep in mind that they’re probably trying really fucking hard and they’re probably already beating themselves up about it

True story. My anxiety either makes me hyper aware about details or fogs my bran with shit I don't need when I'm listening to someone.

Velvet runs Volup2 (and online magazine) and has even shot pics of me (this past summer, which will be going up in the semi near future). She was shooting all sizes, shapes, genders, etc and I love her work so much! Just wanted to help you find more of her work like your comment mentioned!

Omg thank you for letting me know! It's been ages since I talked with her but I always remember her being body positive for everyone before it was a "trendy" thing and she had great energy.

What a Mess

oh REALLY?!?!?!

the ONLY visibly fat model?

Girl you need to stop believing your own hype.

velvetdamour is the very first plus size supermodel, ever. She’s the first fat model to be signed to an agency, she walked for Jean Paul Gaultier and John Galliano at 38 years old and 300 pounds and that was almost 10 years ago, people. She is a pioneer of the movement. Give credit where credit is due. Know your facts. Let’s not rewrite Herstory.”

John Galliano - 2006

Jean Paul Gaultier - 2007

And no, Tess does NOT represent me at all. She actively belittles her fatter-than-her fans, and silences those larger than her asking for MORE representation of larger sizes as well, by claiming that they should be grateful for what they get (aka her).

The list of other reasons why she doesn’t represent me as a fat person include racism, ableism, saying that as long as someone wants to fuck you, that that validates your fat body, telling people to lose weight if they don’t fit on theme park rides, being snarky to those who need seatbelt extenders, etc.

NO THANKS!

I’m here for Velvet.

can I just say I have never ever ever seen Tess promote or work with another lesser known model/blogger who was larger than the size 22 she says she is, but she sure loves to BFF other bloggers/models who are already (socially)bigger/more well known than she is.

Lol did she really say ‘people that criticize me would still have sex with me’ in her recent interview with marie claire??

Omggggggg

just to be absolutely clear: tess will NEVER represent me, and i’m disgusted that she thinks she has the right to demand such a position

@chessieness YES SHE DID

because apparently even if someone finds you repulsive, dehumanizes you, and actively works towards making your life as unsafe and abusive as possible, that’s all a-ok so long as they’d still fuck you in secret

I mean it’s fine for ppl to degrade and dehumanize you as long as they still secretly find you fuckable. That’s what matters

Even though I have been a fat girl since I was 5 I am pretty new to the acceptance/body positive movement. Because of this I thought Tess was a breakthrough for larger women. But now I am reading interviews and seeing things she is doing as things unbecoming of an advocate. I thought she would blow the doors open for others but that’s what she doesn’t want. She wants loyalty, admiration, fame, and money. That is why she hasn’t supported the community everyone has her representing…. Well, not unless a camera is snapping her picture. She has become a disappointment.

That last comment by @omghaleysells is so profound. Like I hadn’t even thought about it… I feel like you have a responsibility as someone with a large platform to uplift other people and use your own fame to give attention to people’s voices and she doesn’t do that at all. She just wants people to fawn over her…she’s like ‘well, you’ve got me, you should be happy!’. No. That’s not good enough.

@tesshollidayofficial fuckin’ up again. for the billionth time.

As a former plus adult model I've actually talked to Velvet and she's an amazing woman who I think doesn't get nearly enough coverage she deserves. She supported other models and began doing photography her self to help get more girls seen in positive ways.

I wish I could find some of her work again. I'll do some digging to see if I can find her work as a photographer, not just as a model.

Good morning, darling. I’m so glad you opened your eyes today. May the struggles be gentler today, my love. I want you to make it, I really truly do.
