25 Days of Outlander | Day 4 | Best Fight + Caitriona Balfe Got a Golden Globe Nomination So Let’s Celebrate Her Amazing Acting and Amazing Face

They couldn’t find the right actress to play Claire, they couldn’t agree. Caitriona came in. We had a fantastic audition. We had a big scene to do by the river from episode nine, where Jamie and Claire go for each other. There’s dramatic high stakes. I remember tearing pieces out of each other, it was very physical, I had her in a bear hug, looking at her, and she was really pissed off at me, really angry, really strong. We were both willing to go for it. It’s important that Claire is Jamie’s foil and likewise, they’re equal. (x)

I think this is one of the finest scenes in the whole season.  Both actors contribute their marvelous performances. All the delicate facial expressions and looks from Claire, all the sexy-as-hell voices from Jamie and the strokes of his fingers, and the shadows cast by the candles make the scene heady.  The sex tension is so strong and wonderful, though none of them shed any clothes.

Finally, when Claire closed her eyes for a split of second, the atmosphere was just intoxicating…

This scene is super sexy. Super super sexy. And one of those sexiest parts? After that last gif, when Claire pulls back again, pulls that blanket over her shoulder again and shrugs off that intoxicating touch, Jamie backs off. She’s his wife, they’ve already had sex (very recently, I might add), she’s visibly enjoying his touch moments before, but the second she pulls back, he doesn’t push. You can see he’s disappointed, but he doesn’t push. Nothing sexier than a man who wants you but respects your boundaries nonetheless, and that’s Jamie throughout this whole dang episode. Always giving Claire the time she needs. Jamie Fraser, you precious cinnamon roll.
