Changing your life is not always this wonderful freeing experience at first. Honestly, changing your life is a terrible thing to experience, but a much better alternative to staying in a place where you do not feel loved or appreciated, or a place where you don’t love and appreciate yourself.
One day, someone will catch your eye, and then you’ll have to watch your tongue.
my life is basically just a constant cycle of finally getting past the thing i was stressing about and then immediately finding something else to stress me out even if it isn’t happening for another 4 months
sometimes i can’t believe a show like gossip girl (floundering, tonally dissonant, unable to arc characters in a satisfying way) managed to discover even for a MOMENT the untapped potential of dan/blair –
and then managed to tap into it and write a gorgeous arc that made possible themes of the show as a whole come into sharp relief (people not being as you thought they were, the rich/poor dichotomy, realizing you can drop the facade, etc) –
and THEN shunted it all to the side (all that development! all that comprehension! all that cyclical beauty!!!!) to appease the bright, burned-out makeshift glory of “three words, eight letters” that, sure, was appealing at first but quickly fizzled into a stuck-in-the-mud relationship that just destroyed blair’s character entirely
how do you write two characters like dan and blair and not have them end up together
HOW

bravery isn’t big or bold, it’s not always loud gestures of defiance, not the flourish and glory paints it out to be, and you know what? it’s okay.
bravery is also getting up in the morning when there is no incentive, it’s the small things that so many people take for granted, because they don’t have to think about it, and so they don’t realise that it’s brave.
but it is. it’s carrying on, picking yourself up time after time because you’re the only person who can, it’s being the better person and walking away when you know it’s best even if it may not seem that way.
It wasn’t meant to be. You’re not missing out. Your life has different plans for you.
