Shout out to all the people who have rough patchy skin, eczema, or skin conditions in general who aren’t portrayed in a good portion of body positivity posts. You all are awesome and beautiful.

Dupixent update

So this is an update from last dupixent post from long ago. Im currently still on dupixent. My skin compared to how it was before is completly different. I still have a bit of small eczema patches on my legs, but not as extreme as it used to be. I feel like I got my life back after being on this drug. I have a job now and schools is easier to do when youre not constantly feeling terrible! Funny side story my doctor recently wrote a note about my conditions for my school and he said that I was one of the worst cases he has seen in 20 years of his medical practice. Which doesnt surprise me I was in a really bad place skin wise and he says now that its like he is looking at a different person when he sees me.

At the beginning on my dupixent injections, I noticed I was devloping bruises very easy. I still get bruises easily, but im not sure if it correlates with the dupixent. I might have always been this way but never noticed because my skin was always raw and inflamed. I havent noticed any other side effects from this medicine as of the moment.

Im not sure how common this is, but after trying dupixent in the beginning I lost weight. My doctors took me off (by tapering down) of steriods, and the immune supressor right before they had me first inject. So after a couple months I noticed a significant change on how I looked not just skin wise but also weight wise.

My skin now is very smooth and soft. I was actually surprised that I wasnt scarred more because of the eczema. However, I did notice this summer that some patches of my skin wont tan. Like I will have patches and specks on super pale white skin and its really noticeable to me because the rest of my skin surronding it is now darker. Im not sure if this is from me having prolonged eczema for most of my life or just how my skin is.

Other than skin, My asthma has also been nice. I havent had any asthma problems in months. I know they are currently still testing dupixent to see if it can also help people with asthma and I think it does. I am also on another biological called xiolar which my doctor is weening me off of in hopes that the dupixent will take care of both my issues.

If anyone wants to dicuss or compare/constrast their experiences with me about dupixent that would be nice! I want to see how my experience is compared to others and whats common among the community of people taking this.

It has been a few years since my last Dupixent update, so I wanted to add to this. I am still on it and probably will for the rest of my life.

I am not going to say my skin is perfect, its not and it will never be. Eczema does not go away, but you can manage it. This medicine still does everything it promised when I first started injecting. My skin has impoved immensely, but every once in a while I get very small flare ups. I still use topical steriods for trouble areas or small flares. Compared to before I took it, my skin is completely different, I look normal. I can fuction and do things I did not think was possible espically when I had particulary bad flare ups.

I still dont like injecting myself and I am not sure if I will ever like it. I have always done a ton of injection medications, but this is the first self injectable I have done. Its not hard to do it, but sometimes it is unpleasant and I notice there are times when I try to do it at the last possible moment or I have missed doses avoiding it.

Which by the way it can be noticeable if you miss a couple of doses. I had a flare up on my arms that got kind of bad, my coworkers noticed it before I really did. Then I realized that I forgot my last shot and that I should probably do that eventually. I ended up doing it a week later and my skin took a few days to recover but it did recover rather quickly after my injection. This also applies to my asthma as well, when I first wrote this post, Dupixent was not approved for asthma treatment. Now it offically is which is cool, my allergist told me about how it helped with asthma way before it was appoved for it. But it does help to get new insurances to cover it since I have two of the conditions it treats.

Time to talk about skin texture! My skin in the beginning of this was very soft due to it basically being all new skin since before that I was basically covered in wounds. My skin is still soft now, however I feel like its different. My skin is not a fragile as it was back then, it is a lot more sturdy. My skin does not freak out with most products anymore and does not turn pink as easily as it used to. It is soft, sturdy and reliable. I have a lot of good skin days, way more than bad ones.

As for spots on my skin, i still got those! Apparently my skin in some areas have lost pigment kind of like a scar. I tore up my skin so bad that it could not replicate pigment in a few areas. Those being my spots on my hand and on my ankles and feet. My derm and allergist said as long as it does not spread there is not any reason to be concerned about it. Actually both of them were shocked that I did not have more scarring. I also have freckles that I did not have before on my arms but I am not sure if those are due to my skin being torn to shreds or somethings else. I get regular check ups at my derm and allergist and they do not seem concerned about it so it should be okay.

My eczema and asthma also are tied to my immune system and my allergies that devlop randomly because you know my body hates me. If you are anything like me, dupixent does block some of your immune response to allergens but it does not stop or decrease your allergies. Just found out I devloped an adult onset milk allergy. So thats fun. According to my allergist, “thats unsual” was something he said multiple times. So you may still devlop new allergies because you know bodies suck.

If anyone is on this medication and wants to talk about it or if they are new to it and have questions, feel free to reach out to me. You can message me on here. I also use Twitter a lot lately and you can fine me there as well, my username is Witchyvibes22.

Hey I don't know if you know this but snitching on someone for storming the capitol with intent to kill someone is not the same as snitching on someone for the crime of... *checks notes* being a jewish child
