Anyway I started playing New Vegas because I watched a video that told me New Vegas is great (it was a good video except for all the spoilers but I suppose that is my fault for not having decided to play New Vegas a decade ago), and after extensive fiddling with mods and roaming the wasteland I can say that yes, the video was quite correct, New Vegas is great.

The Fallout show reminded me that I never did finish New Vegas due to a terminal case of Mod Madness.

Though I still believe my initial theory about Doc Mitchell was correct because of all the mods that change him, none trusts him enough to let him out of the house.

I should be clear, I will fully dunk on Fallout 4. It's not good as compared to many other RPGs, and especially pales in comparison to New Vegas.

The companions are flat and one-note. None of the factions are interesting, and the Institute fails to be a compelling villain or viable choice to side with. ("Why are you doing all this evil shit?" "It's... hard to explain." Fuck off.) I'm not even interested in the settlement building.

But sometimes I wanna tune up a customized power armor and stomp around blasting mirelurks with my tricked out laser rifle while my Pipboy blasts Atom Bomb Baby.

It's a fun little playground with Fallout paint on it.

Which, at the end of the day, is all a Bethesda game needs to be.

It sure can't be anything else.

This is actually a pretty good shout considering there are still people are Obsidian who worked at Black Isle, who originally published Baldur's Gate and developed Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment.

I will also accept Beamdog doing Baldur's Gate 4, as they are made up of ex-Bioware devs.
