Illyana Rasputin aka Magik.

I think the last time I drew her, I was figuring out what Chris Bachalo was designing for her. Its….a interesting design for her now, with her short shorts with high thigh high boots, that weird headdress, and her odd shirt. Its fine that he’s trying to make her look long and tall, but it kinda looks like she’s paying for her shirt in payments.

This look takes the basic silhouette that Bachalo has made and I twisted it to my look for her. Hey apparently she’s got abs and wants to show them off……okay. Took the headdress away, all the way pants, more stylized the shoulder guard and tossed in some more red than just the shoulder ‘X’ 

I can live with it.

Love it. Bachalo’s overly wacky tendencies toned down just that little bit.

I honestly cannot decide what’s the cutest thing in these panels: Illyana clapping at Piotr, or her playing with his hair, or her making a stink face when Kurt shows up.

I suspect that Illyana may be the X-Character that will be “coming out” in the near future. No problem there, it would actually make sense seeing as how she doesn’t really have much of a romantic history. I just hope they don’t make it an awkward unrequited love thing between her and Kitty. Their friendship is way too precious to ruin with that sort of awkward dynamic, since Kitty is very much straight and can’t reciprocate.

Idk, I’m just spitballing here. I’m excited to see where the writers take their rekindled friendship. This issue was brilliant, as usual.

I started reading the X-Men recently.  Magik is amazing.  @__@
