not only bc itd be hilarious but also to exemplify that this is precicely the kind of humor this website has thrived on for months and predstrogen got permabanned and threatened with feds for saying this about matt. My guy I downloaded this from tumblr.

i think we should be clear that as funny as it would be for matt to be a little pissbaby who shit his pants bc somebody made a threat of cartoon violence against him that this was not why avery got banned and he wants us to believe that it was.

avery got banned for being a popular trans woman. thats it. the original communications she got from tumblr didnt include any mention of harassment or threats of violence. they alleged she had been banned for sexually explicit content. there has been no proof provided that avery ever posted anything out of community guidelines on what sexually adjacent content is allowed. the most popular post she has that got marked explicit was a fully clothed, sfw, shoulders-up before-and-after photo of her one year into transition. that's it. (if anyone has the screenshot of that post id appreciate it getting added here.)

matt's claim that avery was "threatening him" is so obviously an attempt to make it seem like this decision was about anything other than her daring to be a trans woman who had a following. the fact that he wasn't able to pull up any better proof than this shit is evidence that it isn't anything to do with the reason for her banning.

Nothing is more devastating than this. The UN World Food Program has officially suspended aid delivery to northern Gaza, citing violence and lack of safety as major reasons the aid trucks aren’t getting through. Israeli officers are liberally shooting at Palestinians who try to approach the trucks in hopes of getting even the smallest morsels of food, despite the fact that Israel has allowed only one crossing for the already woefully low numbers of aid they’re permitting entry. Reportedly this number has fallen from 140 a day in January to just 60 a day this month, and now 16% of all Gazan children under 2 are “acutely malnourished.” Meanwhile, the US vetoes a call for a ceasefire for the third fucking time. It’s so inhumane in its cruelty it’s actually shocking to see it being allowed to go on and on, and on an international level no less.

sure deepfake porn is easier to produce than say, photoshopped nudes, but photoshopped nudes and edited porn and flash games where you can beat up online feminists have been a thing for a very long time. and even before this the issue has been first and foremost sexual violence against peers—sexual harassment, groping, rape of classmates, coworkers or so simply workers. misogyny and sexual violence have not magically appeared via deepfake nudes, though they can be a non unsubstantial in intimidating and abusing others. but they are not the cause of it. they are a symptom of a much larger issue of sexual violence, intimidation, and cis men's entitlement to others' bodies.

when i was a preteen before smartphones were widespread, my 12 year old cis guy classmates did a whole campaign where i was deemed simultaneously unfuckable and relentlessly sexually harassed by them (a whole list of my most and least fuckable traits was passed around by everyone in the class). one of my classmates, a then-closeted trans girl, was also terrorized by them (notably called the equivalent of faggot many times and eventually beaten until they broke her arm). the cis girls in the class would often perpetuate the 'jokes' and participate in the sexual harassment on various levels.

now i have no doubt that if other technologies had been available at the time things would have been even worse. had i had a smartphone and other social media than a tightly locked down facebook (barring the forums and blogs i hung out on that my classmates had no idea existed) the harassment might have followed me everywhere. had my classmates any knowledge of photoshop or editing i have no doubt they'd have used this against me and my other classmate. had they had deepfake tech they'd have made nudes. i might have gone from depressed and bullied to actively suicidal.

the thing is the core issue here remains the same! sexual violence, normalised and barely taken seriously, in an environment where people with the most influence were allowed all cruelty and any fight back was punished. my classmate's broken arm resulted in punishment for a few ringleaders, but our classmates hounded and shunned her for even daring to report abuse so bad it led to hospiralisation. a cultured of misogyny and transmisogyny leading right into bullying and abuse.

what i'm saying is, the deepfake nudes are a symptom. a really shitty fucking symptom, but doing nothing to adress the roots isn't going to lead to shit

it's like the andrew tate panic. yeah that guy fucking sucks, yes he has disproportionate influence among a subset of teenage boys. but have you considered that part of why so many teens (and adults might i add) latched onto him and his misogyny isn't simply bc of the Magic Of The Algorithm or bc he has some deep forbidden charms that could magically convince anybody, but bc everything that he says is to some extent already deeply embedded in the surrounding culture and from what kids are taught at home and in school already?
