Soi - /soj/: matter, substance, material, component Setvai's gone through a number of origin history changes, but I decided that I'd set it around 50,000 years in the future on a former colony world that got cut of from Earth and the other colonies 5,000 years prior to the age in which modern Setvai is set. I wanted a massive gap between now and when the Setvai live on purpose, and I felt like if there is going to be planetary colonization of the type where modification of entire planets is needed, a few centuries into the future is just not enough time. Technology moves fast, but it often doesn't move as fast as we think in the ways we want it to move... like, we still don't have moon colonies. It also allows me to get away without having to work from an existing Earth language. I'm essentially working from the assumption that you can't reliably reconstruct any language further back than 10,000 years. Even Proto Indo European is conjecture despite a lot of good evidence about what word forms may have been, and the date for that is about 7,000 years or so). So, at about 50,000 years into the future, that's four cycles where any language is going to be so different that what it was is basically obliterated. At the same time, I've never said that the language that Setvai originates from actually came from this dimension. Cheating? Maybe. Easy out? Definitely, but I do what I want.

I didn't take many photos of Santiago de Querétaro when I was there in 2005 (I had a small, low storage point and shoot camera with me), but this is my favorite. It's Jardín Zenea. Not nearly as big as Alameda Hidalgo (which I never got to see) but it's big.

Lmao.

There is nothing funnier than Tumblr kids getting mad at people from Twitter coming here when that’s exactly what happened on Twitter when Tumblr banned the porn that kept many of the tumblr kids here.

One of the best things from last night’s episode of Defiance was getting a little snippet of what life on one of the Casti worlds was like. This appears to be Casti which orbited the sun called Sulos. In actuality, Casti was an uninhabited moon that the Indogenes terraformed in preparation for leaving the Votanis system entirely. The other planet in this system was Omec, which according to lore had been decimated by the Volge. My assumption is that Casti was a moon of Omec (though, both could’e been moons of gas giants in the system. The lore is still pretty sparse in regard to this).

Didn’t the Castithans live on Daribo?

They did.

Until they conquered Irath and renamed it Casti.

To add to this, from the Wiki, this is the planet we’re seeing on the show: Casti, officially known as Casti II, was a moon in the Votanis System and it orbited the star Sulos. It was a colony world of the Castithans, however some Sensoth and Liberata lived here as well. It was destroyed along with the solar system is was located in. Casti was originally an uninhabitable moon until it was terraformed by Indogene scientists in 3317 BCE. The Castithans named it Casti II and the wealthy appropriated it as a new home. (This explains I think why the shot of Casti (II) on the show looks very dry and desert-like because it probably had limited sources of water.) As Dave says, Irath was renamed Casti: The Irathients, Sensoth and Liberata evolved on this planet. When Castithans arrived to enslave the Sensoth, Irathient fought against them but were driven into caves and gassed; the survivors fled in what became known as the Great Diaspora. Eventually the Castithans claimed the planet and renamed it Casti. Irath was destroyed with the rest of the system in a cataclysmic event. (So, basically, Castithans were imperialist assholes in their home system) Daribo on the other hand: Daribo had three moons, 2 of which had irregular orbits. It was the home world of the Indogene and the Castithan as well as several hardy and dangerous animal species.
