I’m sorry you didn’t have a life. But if truth be told, you’re not missing much. I know it’s easy for me to say with warm breath in my lungs, and you with nothing. Still… what would you have had? Parents? Well, they’re the ones who wrote your last act, so not much lost there. Friends? Most likely fair weather. Lovers? Fun for a bit, I’ll admit, but all eventually disappoint. And let’s face it, you’re a girl. Your mother was right about one thing. We’re just vessels. And even when we’re told we’re special, as I was, as you would’ve been, we’re still just vessels… for them to take… and take… until we’re empty… and alone.

ok this conversation is so fucking funny to me bc I always thought Captain Proton was something Tom found somewhere and not something he wrote?? Honestly the fact that this is his original content and Captain Proton is his OC makes the whole show 900x funnier bc especially in episodes like Bride of Chaotica he’s always like “oh my god so sorry guys i know this is such a weird program haha it’s historical it was just like that back them” but like??? Tom you WROTE that program!! He made up Arachnia and Chaotica and all that shit!! Tom mf Paris really got his boss to cosplay his OC in a life-and-death scenario to save the ship and people still say star trek isnt a comedy…

“A picture showing a man or a woman jumping off a window is a picture of a person with psychiatric issues who, suddenly, acts in an incomprehensive way, if we exclusively frame the person leaning out of the window or falling from it. However, were we to enlarge the field of vision in order to obtain the whole image, we would be able to see, for example, a line of police vans with military equipment about to evict the person in question.

The real reason behind the act is the situation of vulnerability with regards to basic items necessary to live that many people experience in our time. Knowledge of the specific facts, the missing parts of the image, make the supposed psychiatric issues melt like snow in the sun.

Psychiatry is the act of eliminating context. Psychiatry doesn’t listen, it doesn’t want to listen, it doesn’t want to know. It only considers the fragment, an unjustified behavior or an idea openly in contrast with social conventions and it silences it.

Going back to the picture of the person who jumps off the window: the cut that eliminates the police aggression will be made by, for instance, a newspaper that belongs to the bank who evicts the person. This would lead to the apparent non-existence of a cause for the search for death, in order to direct the discourse towards the psychiatric issues of a sick person. In other words, psychiatry is at the service of power. Of course, it is much easier to quickly eliminate those who denounce important issues rather than confronting and solving them, like guaranteeing everyone, no exception, a house and an equitable distribution of the planet’s resources.”

 — Paolini, M. 2018. Preface. In: Antonucci, G. El prejuicio psiquiátrico. Pamplona: Katakrak. [Translation mine]

I never comment on reblogs but “Psychiatry is the act of eliminating context” is the most cogent articulation of this issue I’ve ever heard—this whole passage is brilliantly illustrative and I’m so grateful for the translation.

weed doesn’t make your thoughts more creative or deep it just lowers your standards for thoughts that you find mindblowing imo.

like i have nothing against weed, i think it is very fun, i just think we all have to face the truth that when we smoke it we are not so much enlightening ourselves as we are undergoing temporary bimbofication. thank you for reading.

people are getting defensive about this post, as if i would ever imply that temporary bimbofication was anything but a lauded and sacred state of existence

astounding how quickly the Super Mario 3D All Stars announcement went from “oh, Nintendo’s actually doing something cool for once, nice” to “oh fuck you nintendo” at mach 7 speeds

ebay exclusive game release

I should probably says something about how this is an insanely unprecedented scumbag tactic on their part that creates artificial scarcity towards a product people were already complaining was scarce in the first place and that you should pirate media constantly and always to prevent big corporations from doing shady shit like this to you all the time but instead I’m gonna say more like nintendo bitch lol

If you wish (because you should!) pirate these games:

If you wish to support good ports of old games out there, ports that actually add new features and that are worried about preserving games and putting them out there for new audiences:

SEGA 3D Classics was a line of extremely high quality SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis and Arcade ports that not only allowed you to play these games with the 3D feature of the 3DS, but that routinely added completely new modes and features to these games, most of which focused on making these old games more accessible, on top of just being able to play these old games as they were, perfectly. SEGA AGES is a sort of continuation of the SEGA 3D Classics line, but for the Switch and not the 3DS, so no 3D. Same deal though - extremely high quality ports of SEGA classics with new features. Including online play in some games! It features world’s first perfect port of Virtua Racing, using the original arcade code, with online play and 1080p resolution! The Megaman Zero/ZX Collection features all 4 Megaman Zero games, plus the 2 ZX games, with a new optional checkpoint system that makes these games a lot easier and less punishing to get through, and a new racing mode where you can compete with a friend or a CPU who can get through a level faster. Plus a huge extensive gallery of all the art and concept art of these games. Collection of Mana is a collection of all three classic Mana/Seiken Densetsu games, including the never-before translated Seiken Densetsu 3! A legendary Action RPG that since the 90s, western fans lamented it never being released outside of Japan. Well, now it has! With the translated title Trials of Mana! Speaking of titles that were never before released outside of Japan or translated, Moon: Remix RPG Adventure is an incredibly interesting and forward-thinking Playstation 1 “anti-RPG” made by some of the people who have worked on all-time classics like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG, about befriending people rather than killing monsters. It is one of the main inspirations for Undertale. It is a hidden gem even in Japan, so it being ported and translated was completely a labor of love situation, so please support it if this game interests you! The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection is a preservationist’s preservationist collection. It’s a collection of very old, very early SNK games, pre-Neo Geo era. Games that haven’t been ported anywhere else or are often forgotten. It’s filled to the brim with games and concept art. There’s also the Contra Collection and two Castlevania collections, one that’s more focused on their more classic titles and another that’s just the two most held-up Castlevania games, Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, in one package. Rondo of Blood in particular, wasn’t brought over to the west at all originally. It’s only release outside of Japan was on a PSP remake of it, so this is, outside of emulation, pretty much the only way to play one of the best Castlevania games out there.

As you can see, there’s a TON of really amazing preservationist releases out there, so maybe instead of playing Mario, you could both say “no” to this incredibly sleazy tactic of Nintendo, AND expand your interest and find new favorite games you wouldn’t have ever played before with all these great re-releases out there!
