A father's plea for peace for his children and his sick wife

Imagine a world where instead of raindrops falling from the sky, bombs rain down, and instead of soothing lullabies, the sound of warplanes fills the air. This is the harsh reality that my children, Mounir (6 years old) and Siraj (4 years old), and my wife, who is suffering from cancer, live in. We live in Gaza, a place where hope seems to be fading.

I am Mohammed, Rawaa’s husband, and I feel the heavy burden of ensuring a better future for them.

The war took my job, our home, the very essence of our existence. We are now living in makeshift tents, sharing what little we have in this besieged land. However, in the midst of all this devastation, my wife's illness bothers me greatly because there is no treatment for it.

Friends in Egypt have offered us a chance to escape this nightmare, but the path to safety is blocked by a daunting barrier: the border crossing demands $5,000 for each life to pass through.

I plead with you, don't let my children become victims of war.

Your contribution, no matter how small, could be the key to unlocking a future free from fear and filled with opportunities. After being kidnapped by the Israeli soldiers in December from inside the Awda Hospital in Jabalia, Dr. Adnan Al-Bursh is announced dead today. He passed away on April 19 after sustaining severe injuries while kidnapped.

Dr-Al-Bursh was the head of Orthopedics at Shifa Hospital.”

I understand that there have been talks about an Israeli invasion of Rafah and I understand how absolutely catastrophic that would be for what is potentially the most packed area in the world, but I just want to point out that it feels like everyone is anticipating with fear a potential assault on Rafah whereas attacks and airstrikes are already happening and in fact they never even stopped for over 6 months now.

Keep talking about Rafah and keep talking about Gaza. There are absolutely no "safe zones" in Gaza and there never have been.

Will say that I see the "binational democratic state" a lot, even on anarchist threads (which... lol) but genuinely if you think that a binational state in which the status as an "israeli" exists in contrast with the status as a "Palestinian" and you genuinely think an "israeli" political system will allow for the right of return for Palestinians (which the whole plan hinges on) then you are naive at best and at worst, have no real intent in providing Palestinians with any real alternative to self determination and are a liberal zionist wanting to preserve the israeli state.

Palestinians are currently called "demographic threats" in their own land. What makes you think that will magically go away, along with systematic oppression? Be for real.

Ireland has a two state solution. No one is happy. America granted sovereignty to the Native American reservations but they’re still oppressed by the U.S. government. A two state solution only serves to protect the colonizer, not the colonized.

We are basically watching as Zionists go from "Israel would stop levelling down entire buildings on top of civilians if Hamas just agrees to a hostage deal!! Why won't Hamas just give us the hostages?!!"

In real fucking time. You couldn't say "we don't give a fuck about the hostages" any louder. And let's not even get started with the Hamas elimination part because you and I both know that is the most deranged goal and that literally no one believes it to be achievable. Absolutely everyone knows it's a ploy to excuse more mass murder with the goal of exterminating Palestinians and you have to be really very fucking stupid to believe otherwise.

This bloodbath has gone on for far too long. At the start of this aggression, the school year had barely just started. The academic year ends in just a month. Everyone, from first graders to university seniors, have lost an entire year at least. I say at least considering even if there is a ceasefire today, Israel had destroyed literally all universities in Gaza and damaged over 400 schools. Lest we forget also Israel's deliberate targeting of university professors and academics.

You absolutely cannot mistake the intent behind all of this.
