“You attempted to stop us, Lord Ansem,” he assured the other in an attempt to comfort. He made eye contact to ensure that Ansem saw it that way. “Xehanort manipulated all of us, you included. It was only as easy as it was for me due to my age.” And out of reverence–he knew that. However, that was a topic for another day. His former king wished to discuss the laboratory, which Ienzo waved off. “Leave that to me, and the others. I was the one who asked for it to be built. Therefore, it is my responsibility to take care of it.”

Although Ienzo wanted Ansem to feel as though he was not to blame, the king still blamed himself. If he had only kept a closer eye on Xehanort, rather than letting the man have his space, none of this would have happened!

“You were a child then, Ienzo.” Ansem smiled, although he felt uncertain of leaving the lab to someone else. “You requested it, and I went through with its construction. I could have told you no.”

"Mister Ansem?" Small child faintly dusted in pancake mix cheerily holds up a white plate with some pancakes cut into little flower and heart designs, rainbow sprinkles added to the mix before being made (with adult supervision of course). "I made a lot of pancakes, and I have some here for you, if you would like to try them."

How could Ansem say no to a face like that?

He took the place from her with a smile. “Thank you.” He gave her head a pat, which stirred the powder that covered her. Knowing that she would want to know if he liked it, Ansem tried a piece. “It’s very good.” Especially with the added sugar.
