We recently learned that a third party had obtained access to a set of Tumblr user email addresses with salted and hashed passwords from early 2013, prior to the acquisition of Tumblr by Yahoo. As soon as we became aware of this, our security team thoroughly investigated the matter. Our analysis gives us no reason to believe that this information was used to access Tumblr accounts. As a precaution, however, we will be requiring affected Tumblr users to set a new password.

(: so (: I rebooted my laptop not realizing that once I logged out of tumblr that they would force me to change my password (: and the email for this account is super fucking old (: so when I tried to log into it they were all like "it looks like someone else has been using your account" and want me to recover it which....is impossible.....so mobile is my only option (and ofc u can't change email or password via mobile so Great)

Alright, I had to do some research on it to confirm

The original dril tweet was posted in May 2012

And Google Trends indicates that this is a rarely searched term, and never searched before the dril tweet

This would seem to indicate that this iconic phrase did, in fact, originate with dril and not beforehand, and I think that’s beautiful because future generations will learn about this literary masterpiece that came from Twitter
