You know what really fucking Annoys Me about internet censorship is stuff like swear words being heavily censored because that's entirely an American cultural hangup being forced on the rest of us. I don't know a single country where swearing is as taboo as it is in America. In fact most languages have swear words that would have the same effect on an American as giving a Victorian chimney sweep a pepsi max cherry.

Demonitizing Irish people's videos for having swear words in them is a kind of hate crime and psychological torture I think.

the real proof that tamsyn muir wrote fanfiction, more than the writing quirks and the coffee shop au and the actual ao3 account that we can access, is the fact that nona was originally supposed to be an extended prologue to alecto the ninth.

it's giving "i'm now 100k words into this 5k oneshot, which means i'm almost halfway done!"

So I had to get nosy and do some research because It's never occurred to me that this kind of effect was possible in the 19th century (upon reading the origins I was like "Oh Shit That's what that is??").

Fabric is made up of basically two parts while being woven, weft (which goes side to side), and warp (which goes up and down).

This dress is made of Shot Silk, so named because of how the weft bobbin of a different color is "shot through" the warp color while the fabric is being woven. The silk in the original post is probably "Dove silk", made of turquoise and magenta fibers which makes that striking iridescent grey color. It was popular all throughout the 18th century, especially in French fashions, and gained a popularity during the American Civil War (cotton production was disrupted and yielding smaller crops as the enslaved peoples involved with production of cotton were dealing with bigger fish to fry, like seeking freedom from slavery and trying not to die).

You might be more familiar with its use in cosplay spaces, specifically with One Disney Princess In Particular

This fabric has so much potential in modern garment making, and I'm so shocked no one else has latched onto it for period pieces. Especially when we have documents suggesting that this technique has existed in Noble and Clergy circles since THE 700'S

Shot silk! What a concept!

if you told vin diesel fast and the furious you were gay he'd be like "Some people like driving stick…some people like driving automatic…what matters is you cross the finish line.." and then he'd rev up a dodge challenger and drive through a building and kill 16 people

he literally did in the fourth one when he's asked if he likes cars more than women

If you asked if he was cool with trans people, he'd probably say "sometimes, aftermarket parts are the only way to get the vehicle you really want. Everyone should have the right to hot rod."

I think it’s really important, for non-Vancouverites, that you know some additional layers of the joke to this, because this shit’s got history:

  • One of our parks has an abstract statue in it of someone reclining.
  • In Nov 2012, an artist made a sign as a joke, “Dude Chilling Park”, which looked exactly like our official Parks Board signs (except for the official park boards seal).
  • The Vancouver Parks Board removed the sign but, after a whole lot of petitions, they put in an official one a year and a half later, also “Dude Chilling Park”, but now with the proper seal attached.
  •  Fast forward 7 years later. We have horrible floods. A barge washes up on Sunset Beach and gets grounded there. It has yet to be removed.
  • The Vancouver Parks Board, unprompted, adds a “Barge Chilling Beach” sign.
  • …Also, they announced this by tweet:

Another aspect of the Gaza Genocide that I want to talk about is the complicity of Internet banking and crowdfunding websites like GoFundMe.

I have seen multiple Gazans raise enough money to leave for Egypt, but the banks and the crowdfunding websites freeze their money or cancel their funds for "suspicious activity" or whatever. Every day that passes in Gaza supplies get more scarce, conditions get more deadly, and the price to cross into Egypt gets more expensive. I've seen people, like ghost-90 here on Tumblr, raise the full amount to get their entire family out of Gaza, but their money gets frozen for so long that the original goal is only a fraction of the price now needed to cross the boarder.

These financial institutions should not be allowed to get away with contributing to the death toll in Gaza. They are intentionally keeping people trapped in a kill zone by withholding money that is rightfully theirs.

I'm so pissed and angry that every avenue for relief for Palestinians is being cut of left and right. It is vile that Gazans are being extorted for 10s of thousands of dollars by the Egyptian gov just to save their family's lives, but even when they play by this corrupt game, the world still finds a way to make them suffer.

My heart is with every Palestinian for the rest of time, from river to sea you will all be free. 🇵🇸❤️
