✨Yo I’m Alex (they/them), I’m an artist and animator from Greece who likes making queer stuff. Nerd. Adhd disaster but also kinda chill about it. ✨

This sounds like a shitpost but people should be allowed to be horny. As in, sexuality is just part of life for most people and there’s no reason for consensual sexual behavior to be punished. A celebrity getting “caught” at a sex club shouldn’t be a scandal. No one should be fired for having a fetlife profile outside of work. Nudes getting leaked shouldn’t be career-ending. Denying and hiding (consensual) sexual interests doesn’t make anyone more professional, it just makes everyone more repressed. And sterilizing ourselves to be better work drones isn’t productive, it’s just creepy. I’d rather my surgeon get absolutely railed on camera and come to work in a good mood, frankly.

the amount of ace, aroace, + sex-repulsed ppl leaving support on this post is rly heartwarming

Genuinely can’t stand the new favouritism towards video format. You want me to spend a whole two minutes listening to someone say out loud a paragraph I could read in 20 seconds?

(This is about tiktok. I hate tiktok.)

It’s not just tiktok, it’s everything. I’m tired of clicking on news articles and instead finding it’s a video I have to watch. I’m tired of being sent to a video when I want to learn about a new thing instead of an article I can skim in less than a minute. You mean you want me to sit through an entire video, listening for the one kernel of information that’s buried in there that I’m interested in? Nah, man, life is too short to waste it like that. I don’t know why any of you like videos lmao.

This is your yearly PSA that homeopathy IS NOT a synonym for home remedy. The homeopathy industry encourages this confusion because of the warm fuzzy feeling people get from home remedies. Homeopathy is a specific pseudoscience based on two primary principals:

1. Against all common sense, positive effects of a medicine get stronger the more you dilute it. Homeopathic remedies have their "active" ingredients diluted so many times that you're paying big bucks for water and sugar pills. The common homeopath response to this criticism is to ramble a word salad of terms stolen from quantum physics that sound smart if you don't happen to know what those terms actually mean.

2. Like-cures-like. This is the idea that you can treat an illness by giving a patient an extremely tiny amount (see above) of something that causes similar symptoms. Homeopathic treatments for nausea are typically dilute extracts from very poisonous plants that cause nausea & vomiting on ingestion. Luckily these don't do anything because of how dilute they are, but it's really funny to see homeopathy peddlers say that evidence-based medicine is poison, then watch them put Strychnine Tree ("nux vomica") extract in their pills.

Anyway, double check medicines you're buying over the counter at the pharmacy to make sure they don't say "homeopathic" anywhere (sometimes it's in fine print) because you are literally paying for nothing. And remember that chicken soup for colds is a home remedy, it's not homeopathy unless you put a drop of the soup in an Olympic sized swimming pool.

Side note: the homeopathy industry likes to mask the identities of famous poisons with uncommon names so you get Arsenic Trioxide being called "Arsenicum Album."

Other side note: You can often identify homeopathic products quickly if they've put the word somewhere obscure by looking at the back of the box. If the ingredient is in a comically low percentage (0.0000001%), the amount is given as a confusing dilution factor like "30X" rather than an amount, or HPU ("homeopathic unit," probably their attempt to ape actual measures like USP units) it's a homeopathy medication.

Side side side note: just to confuse you even more, occasionally herbal supplements are listed as homeopathic on the package even when they aren't because these terms aren't regulated in most places.

Are tissue salts homeopathic or herbal?

All the links I got indicate "homeopathic." Common dilutions I'm seeing are like 12x (10^-12, one part per trillion) and 24x (10^-24, one part per septillion).

24x is diluted to the point where you'll be lucky if a dose contains a single molecule of the thing listed in the ingredients. At those concentrations, you'll get a much higher amount of the minerals that make up "tissue salts" in an equal amount of normal tap water. Tissue salts would be a pretty dangerous thing to rely on for someone with a mineral deficiency.

Jumping on the Arcane bandwagon because holy hell this show is GOOD and Vi is... uh 👀 nice. good. very good.

Vi was designed by some sick bastard who wanted us all to spend chrismas gay panicking instead of being holy

The realest thing I’ve heard all week

oh god oh fuck oh god oh fc ck o h gdo

Ok but f’real though, this is such a good example of feminine clothing actually tailored to fit a masculine body.

I think a not insignificant part of the gendered clothing issue is that because men’s clothing is by nature looser fitting, women can wear it and have it look decent on them because the clothing will still fit more or less the way it’s supposed to. The reverse isn’t true - because women’s clothing tends to be tighter, it’s often not going to look good on a man’s body that doesn’t have curves in the same places. But that doesn’t mean that a dress is always going to look terrible on a man, it just means that those dresses need to be purpose built for different body types. And that would help everyone: trans, cis, fat, thin, muscular, skinny, etc

Hey, your awesome Sir Fitzroy Maplecourt gif came up as an option when I was looking for gifs and so I used it in a post, but I’m just really deeply uncomfortable with using other people’s art without permission and it’s been bothering me, so I wanted to check in about it. Idk how any of those gifs end up in the list of suggested gifs, but it obviously links back to you as the original creator, as per below. Are you okay with it being used in that way, or should I delete the post? For context, I used it cus I just got to the bit where I found out he’s ace and I was posting about that and this gif came up in the list of gifs and was just kinda perfect for the moment (and it was my sideblog @geekiemee).

Let me know!! I have immense respect for artists, so I wanna make sure everything is above board. Thanks ❤️
