Pond life. Art by M. A. Koekkoek (1, 4) and Ned Seidler.
Image 4—a version of image 1 as you can see; I’m not sure which one came first—used to hang on the wall of the staircase in my aunt’s house. I passed it often, and I always looked at it. Sometimes it was just a sideways glance, other times I studied it more thoroughly. But I always had to look. To live among those creatures beneath the surface... Somehow that idea appealed to me. I can easily get lost staring at these illustrations, especially the fourth one, with its twilight haze and its misty floor, teeming with life and yet so quietly mysterious.

The two ADHD moods:
- I can’t do it
- I can’t stop doing it
The two types of ADHD time:
- now
- not now
the two ADHD memory modes:
-I literally cannot recall the words that just came out of my mouth
-I can recite the opening paragraph of every single magic treehouse book
bitches gotta start thinking about their animal crossing villager and town name now so that they don’t spend 10 hours doing it when the game finally comes out. im bitches.
Best customer I’ve ever had was when some rich white cape cod lady in a floor length fur coat came into my store and asked her daughters what sweated pants were and how to wear them and her daughters kept trying to explain what sweat pants were to her and she was completely and utterly flummoxed by them
She asked if sweat pants are bisexual and her daughter was like “unisex?” and she was like “sure”

how many people could be working on actual problems in the world instead of being forced to do jobs that they are over-qualified for just because they dont want to go homeless and starve?
climate change is threatening to kill us and people with biology degrees are working at starbucks if they didn’t get lucky in the nepotism department.
capitalism is possibly the least efficient way to allocate work.
You love art–have spent your entire childhood developing a style people love and appreciate? you could possibly work to improve the lives of millions with your beautiful creations?
sorry you need to work 12 hours a day at a walmart that doesn’t need you while some billionaire who took a painting class once sells some ugly bullshit for 3.5 million.
Millions of people want to be doctors but can’t afford medical school, it is a well known fact we don’t have enough doctors for the demand. hmm wow real efficient capitalism.
“I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.” - Stephen Jay Gould
Capitalism and wealth are bankrupt concepts.
