People are going to die on Mars.

It’s almost arguable that that’s the entire point of sending people to colonize the Red Planet—to make a new place for humans to live their lives to their ultimate conclusion and to create a foundation for generations to follow. The first pioneers, the people who will beget life on another planet; all of them are supposed to die on Mars.

By their bones buried or their ashes scattered, human lives, ended and spent, will be a measurement of the success of the colony’s efforts. Earth is a planet rich in ghosts, where the dead outnumber the living tenfold. But the dead are not a native commodity on Mars, and the Red Planet has no ghosts of its own—until the day it does.

As of November 19th, 2061, there are just shy of ten billion people alive on Earth. There are 400 people alive on Mars.

this is a legitimate problem in robotics.

like, if you're a bomb disposal guy and your team has a cool bomb-disposal robot which you've given a cutesy name to, you may hesitate to put that robot in harm's way, which is NOT OPTIMAL in the bomb-disposing field.

it also doesn't help if you hold funerals for the robots after they get exploded (this happens pretty regularly).

anyway nobody has worked out how to stop humans from pack-bonding with literally inanimate objects and they probably never will. (like even knowing it's a problem, I *still* think those EOD robots deserve funerals).

what I imagine is an original trio of trouble makers, Casey, Jeff and Lee.

STUCK IN MY OFFICE WITH COVID, SO OFFICE TOUR TIME

I spent three days cleaning and organizing (half of) the whole space, so look upon my works, etc.

i still need to do the bookshelf (it’s very bad), and that trash can is not staying there. also yes the wall to the right is covered in fairy lights and fake ivy, because I am That basic bitch. It makes for nice ambient lighting at night. There is also a colour changing LED strip running the length of the desk. overall aesthetic is michael’s craftstore halloween section with pops of bespoke nerdery and nods to an action figure obsession. i just like to have small versions of assorted blorbos to keep me company. Most of the non generic art is commissioned or at least created by friends or artists I admire. There are still pieces I need to hang and others I need to print. I have run out of wall space. The problem with the three star wars prints above my laptop is that the one in the middle with Luke hanging from the underside of Cloud City on Bespin is that he has both his hands despite it being immediately after the fight with Vader. yes, it does drive me insane.

I think the most hateful thing that you, as a creator, can do towards one of your own characters is confirm their favorite food, because it’ll cause irreparable brain damage to fanartists and it’s all they’ll ever reduce the character to.
