she didn’t lose her internship because “her friends” used a hashtag, she lost it because a bunch of 4chan fuckers found out she’s trans and decided to doxx her and harass her employer about the ~image~ she was sending. like this wasn’t her public face account, she wasn’t spouting racist garbage, she mistook someone in her mentions for one of the randos she gets regularly harassed by (because, yknow, if someone tweets “language” at you on twitter, 99.9% of the time they’re not actually concerned for you) and transphobes used the opportunity to fuck up her life. it’s great that hickam is behind her on this but a lot of people are sharing this and laughing at how hilarious it is that “a furry got fired for swearing”, which is the smokescreen being used to cover how this was doxxing a trans woman to ruin her potential career

I have recieved a blood donation in my teens. I spent the first thirty years of my life with a wicked needle phobia. I was only recently eligible to donate through a Blood Canada rule change.

This February, I donated blood for the first time. I went along thinking there was a fifty-fifty chance I would freak out and not follow through.

Instead, it was so straightforward and painless that I felt actively daft for being so worried. A pint of blood took ten minutes to collect and I had zero side effects. If you're reading this, please do two things for me:

- go and check your eligibility at your local blood donation organization, even if you think you know your eligibility

- please consider booking an appointment if you're able to donate

Blood donation is, all things considered, a super straightforward and time-limited way to make a profound difference in the lives of other people near you. If you're dubious or want more information, drop me a DM or ask about my experience!

If you're eligible, consider doing a double red cell donation too. I'm Type O and used to donate all the time, but had to stop due to an unrelated bout of anemia (thanks uterine fibroids). I'm hoping to be able to start again soon!

My number one tip for donors is HYDRATE LIKE CRAZY. The better hydrated you are, the easier it is to find your veins. Second tip if you're nervous or have tricky veins, go to a donor center or hospital rather than a mobile blood drive. It's a more relaxed and slow-paced vibe.
