tuca and bertie is really the first adult cartoon that has nailed the ideal tone for the genre. it’s crude without being over-the-top. it’s realistic without being bleak and hopeless. it’s goofy in that good good cartoony way while still feeling refreshingly adult. its portrayals and discussion of tough shit like anxiety and misogyny and trauma don’t feel hamfisted or as though it was thrown in to emotionally throttle the audience. the whole show is really that mordecai and rigby/finn and jake kind of cartoon BRO dynamic but with WOMEN and for GROWN-UPS and it is amazing to see!!!!!! it’s so funny and unique!!!!! i would HIGHLY recommend!!!
