Quality Assurance testing artifact
People were asked where they felt certain emotions. Areas of increased activity were colored to look like fire, and areas of decreased activity look like ice.
These “emotional heat maps” provide a glimpse into where people feel things. But there’s a lot more to an emotional story than location. What precipitated the emotion? How did it feel? How much did you allow yourself to feel it?
If you didn’t feel the whole thing, did it simply vanish, or is it still waiting there, crouched in your knees or heart or stomach, smoldering and fidgeting?
This gif was created by me from materials inside a scientific paper written by Lauri Nummenmaa, Enrico Glerean, Riitta Hari, and Jari K. Hietanen.

Mushrooms are fun, but I’d do them if they weren’t.
The reason I do mushrooms is to briefly loosen up and stop fighting uncomfortable emotions and realizations. I eat them to temporarily lower the threshold of what I allow myself to feel. It’s therapy. It's a random walk. It's a party in your brain and everyone's invited.
The scientific paper I created this gif from is largely over my head, but as a lay person with a lot of subjective experience in this domain, it's fascinating to read about what's happening objectively. Understanding how matter creates mind is one of the most compelling unsolved mysteries of human life.
Doing quality assurance for Keezy. This was supposed to be a video but I took a photo with Photo Booth instead.

Here is a beautiful cover of Kanye West's Can't Tell Me Nothing, performed by Francis and the Lights.
You can download all of Francis's music in one big zip file for the next 14 days.
