apologist? not necessarily. explainer? perhaps. understander? intimately. enjoyer? greatly. sexualizer? frequently,
love the phrase 'methinks'. me does think. thinketh me do.
YOU
EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE (2022) dir. Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert
“I think I could stand anything, any suffering, only to be able to say and to repeat to myself every moment, ‘I exist.’ In thousands of agonies — I exist. I’m tormented on the rack — but I exist! Though I sit alone in a pillar — I exist! I see the sun, and if I don’t see the sun, I know it’s there. And there’s a whole life in that, in knowing that the sun is there.”
— Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
severance (2022)
— ALBERT CAMUS, “the myth of sisyphus”
obsessed w the anachronism of severance. the new phones and the old cars. the 60s-70s aesthetic of the severed floor. the fact that lumen was founded in the 1860s and still exists under the same family line with no change in branding. the renaissance-style paintings of corporate propaganda. such a good liminal feel
severance is like what if a taste of affection woke you up to all the life that work robs from you thus inspiring you to support unionization but also the woman who is driving the union effort and sits across from you every day is publicly doing fight club on herself

My mother was an atheist. She used to say that there was good news and bad news about hell. The good news is, hell is just the product of a morbid human imagination. The bad news is, whatever humans can imagine, they can usually create.
