She smiled at his words, just carding her fingers more gently through his hair, fingernails scraping very lightly over the other’s scalp. “Mm.” she made softly, just keeping him close. “It’s okay. You can tell me every day until you get sick of me.” she muttered, not meaning to be too loud, before she kissed the top of his head softly.
“I’ll never get sick of you and you know it.” He relaxed and hugged her, content to spend his time in this position as long as she wanted to perch there, really.
“Hmm.” She made softly, leaning in to kiss him once more, gently. “You might and I’m ready if that day comes.” Pepper muttered, leaning into him. “I’ll just enjoy it as long as I can.”

“Oh, shush.” she made, glancing down at the other, before she shifted again - this time to settle herself on his lap, now using both hands to gently card through his hair. “I love you.” she murmured, wanting to offer comfort and warmth at the same time as she wanted to offer him her honesty.
He practically melted under the attention he was getting, movie long forgotten as he stared up into her face. “I love you too. So much. I know I haven’t told you anywhere near often enough, but it’s the truest thing I’ve probably ever said.” He wrapped his arms around her waist, a faint smile on his lips, fond and warm.

She chuckled, then brushed her hand over his back slowly, then up into his hair. “I just really didn’t want to leave you alone.” she muttered, nuzzling him softly. “I took one look at you and knew that you’d be totally lost without me.” She chuckled then, teasing clear in her tone.
“Yeah, well, you weren’t wrong.” He rubbed his nose against the cloth of her shirt. “Without you, there’s no way I’d still be here. Hopeless me you know.” He peeked toward her face. “Never stop being amazing.”

She smiled at his words, then moved to settle her legs over his, shifting closer to him. “I try.” She joked, but smiled so softly that he had to know she meant it. She’d always want to be his light, to help him, to make sure he was alright, too. Softly, she kissed his cheek, then peppered gentle kisses against his jaw, fingers dancing over his shoulder. “I wouldn’t be as happy as I am now if you hadn’t given me that job back then.”
He blinked, then laughed, leaning forward to press his forehead against her shoulder with a groan. “Yes, well, I did try to fire you a few times. You never seemed to believe me, so I think it’s more in your hands than mine.”
She chuckled, then brushed her hand over his back slowly, then up into his hair. “I just really didn’t want to leave you alone.” she muttered, nuzzling him softly. “I took one look at you and knew that you’d be totally lost without me.” She chuckled then, teasing clear in her tone.

Pepper smiled lightly, humming as she closed her eyes, leaning into him a little more as she just let this moment settle. She kept it up for a moment, then broke the kiss slowly, brushing her nose against his cheek gently then, keeping close. “I’m really glad I get to do this, you know that?” she murmured, brushing her fingers over the back of his neck.
“Any time you want Pep, you know you have me.” He let out a breath with the soft words, meaning every single one. It may be hard, after everything they’d been through, sometimes, but he didn’t regret anything that brought him back to her. “You’re the brightest light in my world.”

Pepper shook her head softly, but leaned into his kiss anyways. “No, I don’t want to hear any of that. I’m safe with you.” She insisted, then shifted up to be closer to Tony, leaning into him a little more. “Always safe with you.” she added, smiling as she stretched to meet his lips with hers.
Tony would have protested, but if Pepper was going to take the kissing route, then clearly he needed to be quiet and just not argue at the moment. It wasn’t an argument he particularly loved anyway, so he could let it go for now. Instead, he brought his hand up to curve it against her cheek to kiss her back, putting how much he adored her into it.

She huffed and poked into his side, all while shifting impossibly closer to him. “Yeah, you make it all better. But no need to tease.” She muttered, slowly tilting her head up, wanting to make him look at her as well. “I’m safe with you.”
His expression softened from teasing to sincerity as he met her gaze. One hand came up to cup her cheek as he pressed a soft kiss to her lips. “Not as safe as you should be, but I’ll always do my best for you Pep. Promise.”

Tony gave her a decidedly amused look and tucked her closer so he could rest his chin on her head. “Do I? That’s a relief. I’d hate to not be good for at least that when it comes to big bad scary movies.” His tone was most definitely teasing.

Pepper pouted at him, then swallowed. “Oh. Uh. No, it’s.. It’s fine then, scary is alright.” she murmured, continuing to watch the movie. Yet, sure enough, the next jump scare had her squeak and hide her face against Tony’s shoulder.
“You know, I think it’s pretty adorable that you actually get spooked by movies.” He wrapped both arms around her, grinning against her hair. “I mean, nothing else gets to you like this. If you really want to not watch it though we can do something else?”

After a moment of staring at Pepper, he reluctantly decided to let her take the baby.
“—-i didn’t realise…”
She carefully took the baby, her gaze still on Tony, however. “Is everything alright? Did something happen?” she asked gently, looking him over.
