He looked at the hand with a certain amount of cautiousness. “I don’t know… Perhaps this is the way we are. I’m older, I’m bigger, I’ve been doing this longer. I took you under my wing when you were a teenager. Maybe me caring for you has to be at my expense. Maybe that’s how things are now?”

Erwin shakes his head. “No, I’m an adult now. I can burden my fair share of the responsibility.” He allows his expression to soften, showing genuine concern for Mike. “You’ve taken care of me for so long, I have to step up and take care of you.” 

Mike took a deep breath. “I’m sorry I snapped at you… I find myself torn. Torn between asking for help or just- just leaving and facing everything on my own. I have- secrets, Erwin. And heartache, and in all honesty I just don’t want to burden you with that. Even if I long to be cared for, just a little. This is too much. I’m too much.”

“Mike, I love you and I want to share everything with you. That means I’ll take the bad with the good.” Erwin reassures Mike with a small smile. “I’ve trusted you with the darker parts of my past so I hope you’ll do the same with me.”

“Do you really want the truth, love?” He asked with an unusual shyness. “Because i have been keeping something from you for a few weeks.” He began slowly before taking his hand. “I love you too, Erwin, with everything I got, which is why I kept this from you.”

As soon as Erwin’s finished his shift he drives to Mike’s old apartment and texts Mike to let him know he’s arrived before he parks his car and heads up the stairs towards his apartment room.

Mike is waiting with two suitcases and a pot plant in the stairwell. He was nervous about this- he and Erwin and known each other for a while but they’d never been so close as to spend days on end with each other. What if it didn’t work? Still he smiled at Erwin, always genuinely happy to see him. “Hey, kid. Ready to go?”

Erwin greets Mike with a warm smile and a wave as he spots approaches him in the stairwell. “Yep, I already cleared out the trunk and back seats so we’ve got plenty of room.” He picks up one of the suitcases and heads down the stairwell.  “I’m actually really excited, I’ve never had a roommate before.” Erwin comments with a chuckle. “You just put the plant in the trunk.”

He nodded and made his way down to Erwin’s car. “I’ve had a tonne. But they usually end up moving out, or I end up sleeping with them- it gets messy.” He chuckled and hauled his things into the car.

“yeah, you’ve certainly had…interesting roommates.” Erwin  checks to make sure everything’s steady before he closes the trunk and heads to the driver’s side of his car. “Hopefully living with me won’t be so dramatic.” He comments as he turns the key in the ignition and waits for Mike to join him.

He chuckled and sat in the passenger’s seat. “I hope not... I’m not sure. We’ve been mates for so long though, it should be okay.”

“I am, of course. But we both know no sleep will be had tonight.” He sighed and wrapped his arms around Erwin’s torso. “God Erwin I don’t want to leave this bath. Because I know then I will have to leave your company. I’ve missed you…”

“I’ve missed you too.” Erwin takes Mike’s hand in his own. “We can stay here a little longer, I don’t have anywhere I need to be just yet.” He reassures Mike as he affectionately squeezes his hand. He didn’t want to leave either, just for a moment he wanted to forget about his responsibilities and just be another human being. 

Mike nose ran ever so lightly over Erwin’s skin, just over the back of his neck. “Thank you.” He said gently. “If I could get away with it, I’d ask you to stay- to spend the night with me.” Mike was so vulnerable now- more exposed both physically and figuratively than he had been in so long. Even more than he may ever be again. He just focused on Erwin, on touching him, just to make sure he was real.

“A whole day off, I haven’t had one of those in forever.” Erwin muses as he tries to think if there’s anyway he can work that out. “I’d like to stay too, if I can work it out.” He leans into Mike’s shoulder. “you’re so comfy, I could fall asleep right here.”

Mike couldn’t help but smile and without even thinking, he leaning down and kissed softly along Erwin’s neck. “Come back to my room. Please- work it out. I want you- just for tonight.”

Erwin leans into Mike’s kisses. It was a sensation he hadn’t felt in a while but he’d certainly longed for. “I’m sure I can work something out.” It was merely a matter or rescheduling things for a later date after all and there was nothing dire to attend to. He adjusts his position so that he can face Mike more easily and kisses the other man on his lips.

Mike stopped kissing when Erwin spoke but the moment he did, he smiled. He had no idea that Erwin would say yes. It had been so long since they’d spent time together. But the moment he found Erwin’s lips on his own, he froze. He trembled for a moment before pulling the other clise and relaxing into the kiss. “Erwin…” He whispered.

Erwin wraps his arms around Mike’s back, being careful not to interact with his wound too much. “I love you..” He whispers “I wish..I was able to do more for you.” Erwin confesses before he kisses Mike’s neck tenderly.

God… it had been so fucking long since Erwin had heard anyone say those words to him. It was out of thin air but in so many ways it wasn’t. All these years of fighting side by side, of Mike being Erwin’s personal guardian angel. They had always been close and Mike had always genuinely and sincerely cared. If he were honest, he’d have to admit to himself that he’d fallen for Erwin the moment they’d first fought beside each other in battle. 

“Erwin… look at me.” He appreciated the kisses of course, but he pulled Erwin away and held his face in his big warm hands. “You have done everything for me. You are everything to me, understand? Don’t wish you could do more. because you have saved my life in so many ways.” He gave a small smile.

“I love you too, you know?”

Erwin stares back at Mike for a moment before smiling calmly. “Well…if you’re really content than I won’t push it.” He was relieved to realize that after all these years Mike’s feelings had been mutual. Erwin leans into Mike’s touch, feeling safe and warm in his embrace. “How’d I get so lucky? To have someone like you in my life?”

Mike chuckled as he pulled Erwin close to his chest and leaned back into the water. “You ain’t lucky. Im not so great. But everything else is massively shitty in comparison so I seem great.” He ran a hand through Erwin’s blond hair. “No… No I am the lucky one. Its good to finally love you, you know. To say after all these years is such an honest relief.”

“You shouldn’t sell yourself short.” Erwin comments with a soft smile. “Sure, we both have our flaws but at least that’s proof we’re still human.”   He gazes into Mike’s eyes as the other man plays with his hair. “I’m glad it’s out in the open now too.That we can openly love each other.”

“Oh Erwin…” He shooked his hesd and hels him close. “I’ve thought of this moment for years… Your skin on mine. So warm…. So perfect.” He closed his eyes. “And yet- we can’t be open. Imagine if Nile knew- and imagine how much trouble we could get in. Our live could mean danger. It must be a secret. Between just us. I dont want you taken frkm me now that I finally have you.”

Erwin’s expression fades slightly and he nods in agreement. “Yes, you’re right..it would put our jobs and even our lives at jeopardy.”He caresses Mike’s cheek affectionately. “don’t worry, I have no intention of letting anyone find out.” Erwin’s runs his fingers through Mike’s hair and smiles softly. “Sharing this moment with you, that’s enough for me.”

"Everything we have been through. All the moments we have shares, all the time I have spent by your side.... Oh my commander." He leaned in and kissed Erwin softly. "It has been an honour to walk side by side by side with you in this life."

Mike chuckled before peeling off his own underwear. He chuckled before kicking the clothes to the side. “Hmm… Much much better, you beautiful boy.” Mike wasn’t bashful either. He enjoyed being in and perceiving others in the nude.

And god was Reiner quite the specimen. “Yeah… Youre fucking incredible. I can not wait to paint you. Or maybe I will sketch you…”

Reiner smiled - Mike really seemed to love to compliment others. Or maybe it was just him. It was best he tell himself Mike was just that way, keeps ones self from getting too attached to such things. “You are too you know. A really awesome teacher, really fun to just hang around with, and really good at, well, that other thing.” He said with a huff of a laugh before drinking some more. 

Mike smiled ever sweetly before leaning in and kissing Reiner softly. “I’m glad to know you consider me a good teacher. Perhaps you should come to more of my classes. I hope to see you at my class next week.” He chuckled and ran his hands down the other’s side, feelings the muscles ripple under his hands.  “Hm...” He smiled. “Dance with me.”
