Ophelia began to purr even louder now that the nice man was stroking her.

Mycroft shifted slightly uncomfortably. “Well,” he said, trying to figure out how to phrase this properly. “My mother passed away a few months ago, and I’m now in charge of the household. Our family home is in Bath, so it was necessary to get someone closer to the school where I could live. And it seemed cruel to pay someone to feed Ophelia and have her be left alone.”
