  Result: Ares

Your godly parent is Ares, the god of War, Violence, Battlelust and Rage.

Children of Ares can have tendencies that are cruel, proud, impetuous and violent, where they let out all their emotions with no care for the consequences. They tend to be brash and a bit sadistic, with a large appetite for violence. While brute strength is favored by you, you might lack the strategic wisdom required to win wars that Athena possesses, and your most useful talents would be to spread fear, terror and discord among your enemies. When there is no war however, these emotions can get the better of you and alienate you from others. You are drawn to pure emotion, and will generously give your heart to those who will reciprocate the favor, and you are a firm believer of letting people learn from their own mistakes. When your temper flares, this can cloud your judgement, lead you to become arrogant and underestimate your task. Despite being rash, children of Ares abide by a moral code, much like soldiers, and breaking it results in a relinquishment of strength that is usually unacceptable.

‘ Indeed? How very curious. ’ Bastila comments smoothly and sure, embracing the ground and durasteel to come to be unflappable terrain. She harbours costly sentiments and carries them tide after tide, though her fingers do not tingle nor twitch against her arm. The anxiety she swallows is part of unprecedented force of will and control.
Battling this appalling simmer inside their bodies only brings her nearer to having another shared commotion, a latent rush of energy in symmetric intensities. Triggered by opposite factors, one rises in the illusion, the other sinks in the truth and bites her red tongue.
‘ If you are, in fact, Force-sensitive, this… Well, whatever this is would make much more sense. ’ She hesitates and shifts weight, desperate to disengage from Seungri’s inexorable pull, ‘ Do tell me—— more about these visions you speak of. ’ Unable to do it at all.

The sentinel shifts the weight of her hips with the pull of a star’s gravity. Seungri wonders if she knows - if Bastila sees in herself the grandeur of infinity, heated and untested like a protoplanetary disc, still tumultuous and unformed.  She survived the Dark Lord, but there is so much of her that sings to Seungri as raw beneath the cool, tempered edges of a Jedi’s measured tone.  She thrives in it, what she senses there that has been untouched, that remains wholly hers.

She pulls back, thrown off her careful internal balance in the seeing of things that can’t be seen, and reels at how she had done it.  But she is staid, and rights herself with startling ease, folding her mental composure as collected as the expression that tacks her features mildly in place.  She cannot guess at the Jedi’s ability to read her - a sensate, beholden to mental powers of terrifying acuity.

—— But in her stolen glimpses, Seungri saw hesitation, too.

‘ They aren’t much. I would have just called it intuition, but now I know better. ’  Truth, yes, and spoken with absolute clarity and conviction.  But she lies by what she keeps, possessed of a sudden cautiousness bred by the doubt she feels she sees.  Bastila is a wonder she cannot name, hard for her to pin down, to plumb the full sum of her being as she so naturally sorts with all else.  She’d thought it useful, a scout’s keen trick of observation. And she runs short.

There is murkiness here, an uncertainty that bleeds internal and makes her doubt herself. And this is alien, an inchoate ambivalence, like piloting through roiling fog with no navigation but for the surety of her gut and the firm, guiding hands upon the controls.

So she clips her tongue, speaking in measured and open timbre, even as she draws a veil over the truth.  She gives of herself but little, but shares a placating smile, nearly belated but not quite.

‘ I doubt it will make much difference now. ’

She is the Revanchist, the HEART of the FORCE.

Her relationship is not easily expressed, and never accurately understood by the polarized dogma of the JEDI or SITH.  Both, in their ways, are binding institutions with constructed paradigms to interpret and manipulate the Force. Revan has been a servant of the Light, a Master of the Dark, and never wholly of either

Some may have likened her to Exar Kun, both Jedi of incomparable brilliance and tremendous personal clout.  Two remarkable figures of historic myth even during their swift ascensions.  LEGENDS even to their contemporaries, they took the mantle of Dark Lord and turned upon the Republic they had served.

( But Revan did not turn. She did not fall. )

Revan was a tremendous tactician, a general, a strategus.  She ruled herself with the balance of passion and dispassion, treading the line of the Code in the inchoate years of the Mandalorian conflict.  She was young when she recognized the dogmatic principles which mandated the uncompromising doctrine of the Jedi Order.  Her mind’s perscipacious acuity refused to reconcile this as other Jedi did, but not for lack of faith.  If there had ever been a time where Revan sought compromise, it is forgotten now, buried under frustrations and stymied reforms.

What p r o g r e s s i v e appeals came before the High Council were subsequently denied, a cautious, patient, and moderate path espoused as the singular ideal to follow even as the galaxy burned before the Mandalorian incursion.

For all that she was accused of reckless impulse, there are no campaigns which Revan undertook that she did not wholly account for.  Her schism from the Order - and her blatant rebellion against their dictates - was not singularly the mark of arrogance.  There was calculation in this, as in everything she did.  The progressively brutal ruthlessness of her tactics, similarly, was not substantial evidence of a Jedi Knight consumed by the lure of the Dark Side, but a systematic culling; a genocide, yes, but the reduction of an infestation which had once threatened the destabilize the pillars of the Republic.

So, too, were her designs on Malachor realized.  It was not the theorized influence of the Sith Emperor, nor a careening, unchecked fall into the Dark, but a conscious, deliberate alignment.  The mantle of Dark Lord found use to her not as the culmination of a new ideology, but as a tool to manipulate, to claim dominion over an overwhelming military and political force.  What religion lay in the Dark Side, Revan made her own. Her scriptures and studies were born out of a sharp PRAGMATISM, driven by her natural resourcefulness and inner vision.  She had the will and ability to project her dreams upon the whole of the galaxy; she would remake it, shape it, model a New Republic through the auspices of the Sith.

Her merciless campaign aimed to cut away the chaff, to strengthen the Republic by cauterizing and reinforcing the Outer Rim, the Core Worlds.  She had a very particular vision, and to see its realization meant to do away with the oppressive regime of ancient philosophies.  She was an emotivist: to Revan, moral utterances did not have a truth value, but were expressions of emotions or attitudes.  She was a woman who had traveled the length of the galaxy and beyond - she ruled an Infinite Fleet, and fully recognized that ethical codes were manufactured.  But even these had their place, and she had her own.  What the Republic saw as brutality and betrayal, she knew to be the growing pains of a greater cosmos.

Her redemption following the loss - and subsequent resumption - of her identity was less a return to the Light, and more a coming into that which she had always been - an arbiter of balance.  Even the qualifier of Grey Jedi is insufficient to describe her relationship to the Force.  She connects to it without imposing a bounded paradigm, an unaffected but deeply personal navigation of the Force.  She continues as she always had, with a startling self-awareness free from the cloying boundaries of partisan canon.

RESOURCEGALACTIC SLANG! (2)

I saw the post about some of the differences between language used in star wars vs real life floating around and I thought these links would be helpful* for all star wars rp-ers who might want to use the phrases or slang that’s been recorded in canon for dialogue or thought? There are some cool ones like curse words or slangs for droids and all that stuff so have at it!
* the second link was last updated in 2010 so take that as you will the wookieepedia page also differentiates legends from canon so you can see a more exhaustive list under legends than you might under canon.
