Let’s ignore the fact that he happens to retire from being Principal at Mark’s school just as he graduates, immediately becoming Dean at his college, which is sus as fuck and could easily be explained via him working for Cecil and getting assigned to keep an eye on Mark as the son of Omni-man (in the comic we are made aware Cecil and the GDA suspected from their very first meeting that Nolan’s story about coming from viltrum to help Earth is bullshit, but Cecil decided not to worry about it, not because he trusts him, just because he’s useful and they can’t really do much, it would make sense for them to want to keep tabs on Nolan and Mark from the beginning in search for weaknesses).

No, instead let’s just focus on the other facts, facts that pile up in such a way it would be ridiculous for Winslow not to have figured it out or to at least have a suspicion. Let’s also ignore how, in the comic, Mark gets the idea to name himself Invincible after a conversation the two had, since this doesn’t happen in the show.

Let’s put ourselves in Winslow’s shoes and get into perspective, shall we?

You’re principal at a school, a school near which the superhero Invincible makes his debut.

Around the time said debut happens, one of your students, Mark Grayson, has started behaving weirdly and struggling with his classes.

Coincidentally, Invincible gets more and more active as said student is suddenly starting to skip classes and get stuck behind with his homework, his grades lowering.

That student’s dad, published author Nolan Grayson, “dies” just after Invincible and Omni-Man have their fight and Omni-Man leaves Earth, a fight which destroys a large part of Chicago and shocks the world, with recorded audio of Invincible and Omni-Man talking to each other that gets leaked to the public, which confirms to the world Omni-Man is Invincible’s father and Invincible’s civilian name happens to be Mark.

This student also arrives late to his own graduation, which you would probably only find out later happened while one of Doc Seismic’s attacks was being stopped by Invincible, such a coincidence.

Speaking of coincidences, turns out the college you’re now the dean off after retiring from that other school got attacked by weird metal men and saved by Invincible a while ago, weirdest thing, at least Amber Justine Bennett and William Clockwell (who happen to be Grayson’s girlfriend and best friend) were saved right on time by the popular hero while the two of them and Mark Grayson were checking out the college with guidance from Rick Sheridan, one of the victims of the student turning people into those things.

That’s probably nothing you would have to be aware about, it’s just an event which traumatized students and due to which a memorial was built to honor the students that got turned into those metal men…

Oh, also, soon after Mark, Amber and William start classes in your new college, Mark Grayson disappears without a warning for two entire months, two months on which, again, coincidentally… No sightings of Invincible happen, he’s not in any news, not even as a powerful villain fights a large group consisting on every superhero they can contact, Invincible seems to just not be around.

Yeah, in Winslow’s place I think many of us would have connected the dots.

Him talking about how under other management Mark would have already been suspended, but he understands his situation? Yeah, I don’t think the situation he was talking about was Nolan’s “death”
