"You're standing there watching as my heart breaks for you and you're doing nothing!" ((Thought this could work post-reichenbach, I know we're way after that now but hey :P))

This was certainly not how Jackson thought his evening was going to end but there was no arguing the fact now. Lucy Holmes was standing in his doorway soaked through to the skin from the torrential rain outside. Was she drunk? Possibly, although he couldn’t smell it on her what with the stench of the street muck being trickled down the cobbles with the rainwater.“Mrs Holmes- you’re soaked! Get in here lemme get you a towel will ya?”

Dark tears of mascara ran down her cheeks as she held her coat around her to try and stop the rain but she already looked like a drowned rat. Her bottom lip quivered, both through her tears and the fact she was catching a chill before she looked up at Jackson. Stating the obvious. “I like to walk in the rain so no-one can see my crying” she said bluntly, but graciously accepted his invitation inside and went to warm herself by the fire. “S’all I do now- he’s dead and I’m heartbroken”

When I was turning 28, I thought, ‘Shit, that sounds grown-up. What I am going to do?’ Then I saw a picture of me when I was nine wearing dungarees, and thought I should buy some. My friend then got me a pair of fairy wings, so I sat there on my 28th birthday in fairy wings and dungarees, and I’ve never been happier.

“Jim! Jim…..get off me” “We need to talk, somewhere more private” “Why? So my husband doesn’t discover us?”

She was mocking his hatred for Sherlock and he knew it, she knew he knew it because his grip had suddenly become vice like, and it wouldn’t have been a surprise if he tightened it further and snapped her arm in two. That was very him. Then she heard footsteps and cast a look over her shoulder just to see a shadow disappearing back into the darkness- was it Moran? Mast? Someone? Whoever they were, if they interrupted, she or they would end up dead- she knew Moriarty better than most people. He used to be her friend. “Don’t do this here- please. Think of the children”

History be damned.

The EEA had supplied Joseph with the proper means for disguise and given him the training he needed to go unseen where others would be quite visible. If he was going to trust anything he had to trust that. There was no reason for anyone to think that Joseph Mast was the girl who supposedly died in the fire all those years ago. Moriarty would definitely perceive an abnormality in Joseph, but there was nothing to suggest the real truth to him.

“I would listen t’ the Lady if I were you.” Joseph stepped from the gloom into the dimly lit gaslight alley, lighting up a cigarette as he did so, the amber flecks casting a distorted view of his features for a brief moment.

“We both know who her husband is, I’d figure it foolish t’ rile him again.” He pocketed the cigarette case and exhaled, noting the vice like grip the short man had on Mrs Holmes’ arm. “Though it appears it’s too late for that.”

Moriarty’s dark eyes flicked to the man who had appeared and smirked, pulling Lucy closer to him “Ah- no. You see, she owes me” he said, as Lucy curled her hand into a fist. In pain? Yes. Wanting to punch Jim in the face? Also yes. Joseph’s sudden appearance hadn’t shocked her but there were two ways out of this- go with Jim, or let Moran shoot her. The second option was probably the more fatal....so...her mind was made up. Unfortunately “I’m fine- Mr Mast. He would have killed me by now if he’d wanted to” “True” The criminal agreed, then he sneered. “I don’t like getting my hands dirty. Someone else is holding the rifle” "RUN!” It seems the irishman had more than one marksman and the square alleyway they were standing in was a perfect place to take a shot. It meant Moriarty was distracted and he yelped as Lucy pressed her hatpin into the fingers around her wrist. “Naughty, Lucinda.” he said slowly, but he didn’t let go. “Now you’ve angered me” Her bravery vanished. She whimpered.
