Alright, here we go again. Mesmer players- I know you’re out there and you all are good at what you do. And I’m still an idiot when it comes to building, speccing, and gearing characters. Anyway, now that I’ve scrounged up a meager handful of gold from selling a few superior runes and...

Well I'm no super pro mesmer but I've got one at 80 and use it now and then for WvW so hopefully I can help a bit! GS and sword/focus is a pretty good setup, with that you'll mostly be picking off a lot of backline players like enemy elementalists and necros. For utilities I'd recommend veil, null field and blink when in combat. Veil will give your entire group stealth, which is incredibly helpful when engaging an enemy zerg. Null field will strip their boons, and blink will give you some extra survivability. Portal is very useful but not so much mid fight outside of some sneaky shenanigans, and feedback won't really help out much if the enemy is smart. Traits are where it gets tricky...Mesmer has a LOT of really good traits, so you could really build it a ton of different ways and still be good! I personally run a 4/4/0/0/6 shatter setup on my mes. I and VII in Domination, I and X in Dueling, and I, VIII and XI in Illusions. But like I said, mesmer has many good traits! Its really up to you to play around and find ones you like. The only one I really recommend having is Illusionary Invigoration in the Illusions line. That trait can be a life saver if your F4 is on cooldown. Last thing I would suggest is Traveler runes! That permanent 25% speed boost is really, reeeeally helpful, since otherwise mesmer is preeetty slow.
