Just … just be careful with it.

Hey everyone! What’s going on over here?

Hi! Quick question. Correct me if i am wrong, but you created (along with Ryan North i imagine) the character/descendant of Finn, Penelope in adventure time issue #25 and #30 ? I really fell in love with this character, I love her design! Do you think it is possible we will see more of her? I hope one day she'll make it into the cartoon! :D Thank You!

You’re correct - Ryan came up with the idea of a future hero who’s an amalgam of a few AT characters, and Shelli and I designed her. She shows up again in issue 50 by the new creative team, Chris Hastings and Ian McGinty!

Here she is in her first appearance...

Are you excited for the second part of The Midas Flesh to be out in trade paperback?  BECAUSE YOU SHOULD BE.  This scene takes place just after the crew of the Prospect has used Midas’s finger to turn the Federation’s colossal warship, the Titanic, to gold.

Bard

by Braden Lamb and Shelli Paroline

Growing up in the shadow of Castle Haftan, Eyvind heard all the songs and stories about the fall of the once great house. Some said a scorned lover bound her spirit to its stones and drove the family mad. A terrible fungus blighted the crops, sang another. A holy man seeking a shortcut to the Eternal City opened a door to terrible realms beyond the stars, suggested a limmerick. So, armed only with his trusty instrument, Eyvind entered the ruins to learn which song was true. He was delighted to discover that they all were.

Ryan, help me out. How do Braden and Shelli split the artistic duties? Because I went into Midas Flesh expecting Adventure Time art and was like "whoa this is kinda different but still really good, maybe better?" thanks.

You should ask them!  Their tumblr names are bradenlamb and shelligator.  My impression is that they share everything so fluidly you can never tell which page was done by which person!

Hi, mtthw!

Great question.

Shelli and I typically share all the art duties on the Adventure Time comic pretty evenly, depending on our schedules. We're both working toward an established style, just as all the artists who work on the show do.

For Midas Flesh, we worked together to develop a look for the series, but it was closer to my own style. I handled most of the pencils, Shelli handled most of the inks, and I did most of the legwork on colors while Shelli acted as a sort of color director.

Hope that answers your question!

Other folks, feel free to ask me things any time.
