crabs are literally being forcefemmed by barnacles every day and no one ever talks about it

sacculina makes me go a little insane honestly and not even for strictly transgenderly reasons... its life cycle involves attaching itself to a crab, producing eggs in place of that crab's eggs, and using the female's natural "egg dispersal" technique to, well, disperse its own eggs; but what do they do if they attach to a male host? give up and die? of course not, they simply instigate a hormone cascade that fundamentally changes the crab forever. easy!

and this is just what being an arthropod is like most of the time. bugs get parasitized like CRAZY. theyre the worlds most hijackable machines and you better believe the biosphere is taking advantage of that fact

and, sure, you know what, its yuri. fuck it. theyre raising kids together. this is the ideal liberal family: barnacle mother, absentee barnacle father, and beautiful transgender crab mother

Wait I reblogged this completely forgetting to point out that eventually a male sacculina will show up and he just joins the female inside the crab forever. Just like the female he sheds his whole body to become just formless cells, but he stays tiny, like a male anglerfish

idk to me it’s just like,,,black people coined the phrases say her name and rest in power for a reason and im gonna focus specifically on say her name because it was black women who wanted to call attention to the systemic violences that we have faced that have resulted in the deaths of so many of us which were left unrecognized. it was specifically addressing an issue within the black community wherein black femicides (particularly at the hands of the police/intimate partners) were not given the same spotlight as the murders of black men. we are always forgotten in life and in death and that is part of why the violence against us has been permitted to continue to the point that we are at a significantly higher risk of homicide than any other race. and the statistics are even more grim for black transwomen and femmes. for every nonblack victim of transphobic violence that gets recognition in their horrific death, there are 10 black victims whose names we never know. like that is the whole point of the phrase this shit is life or death for us and we know that the moment race is decontextualized from the nature of the phrase then that is when we are once again forgotten. but yall are acting like we’re trying to start genz tiktok lingo/aave co-opting discourse.

what im essentially trying to say is that say her name isn’t aave or slang or “just something black people say” it was a very intentionally crafted call to action that was made with a specific purpose - that being to highlight black women as being disproportionately vulnerable to violence yet overwhelmingly overlooked. and i think the reason why a lot of yall are mad when we say to pick a diff phrase is bc yall think of it as internet slang and not an actual movement largely driven by social media a la #blacklivesmatter

seven years ago in the name of tolerating free speech from all political perspectives my nasty ass evil university let an army of tiki torch wielding nazis shouting jews will not replace us march through grounds threatening the lives of students and community members with zero police presence. and today they retroactively changed campus policy around tents so they could send in the cops to bust up the gaza memorial vigil. genuinely fucking stomach turning

FYI, this person (forgecore) includes a license to produce & sell their 3d print designs on their Patreon, so you can find all this from several different sellers on Etsy! Try to go with one who at least claims to be a licensed seller, they could be lying but at least they’re giving credit for the design so hopefully they really are on the Patreon.

I am gonna be getting myself some monstera coasters for sure, maybe ask for succulent pushpins or venus flytrap chip clips for my birthday….

a lot of you are not doing a good job of combatting your human urge for narrative— tragic or otherwise— when it comes to the events surrounding palestine. as such, you are consuming the martyrdoms, the assaults, the deaths, as content, even as you attempt activism.

i say this about centering aaron’s twitch username and speculating extensively on why he could’ve been trans, rather than acknowledging the statement he wanted to make and the cause to which he wanted to bring awareness. i say this to the narrativizing of journalists’ like bisan’s and motaz’ lives, making them into mascots rather than extrapolating their humanity and complexity onto every single human being in palestine. i say this about engaging so much with images of graphic death that you let your mind normalize the idea of palestinian bodies as necessitating death (see images of black death in america.) i say this even to the characterization of the genocidal idf soldiers as inhuman, monstrous, and uniquely evil— which is fun, but sets us up to misunderstand once again the banality of inhumane crimes, and the fact that all of us, if we do not remain alert, contain the capacity to excuse, aid, or even commit such evil (as those of us in the imperial core are regularly commanded to do.)

by not resisting your natural urge to narrativize, you misunderstand the nature of settler-colonialism, imperialism, genocide. you draw weird conclusions, like expecting passive victimhood from palestinians, or assuming some unique moral ineptitude that exists only in the minds of israeli citizens. assuming that experiencing genocide makes people better people— implying that those who did not learn from it did not “learn their lesson.” baby talk like this keeps us from coming to the conclusions we must make in order to do our part in stopping this genocide and others like it.

“Umm it will actually be very difficult for universities to divest from israel and arms manufacturers without tuition skyrocketing 🤓☝🏼” why is the financial stability of a college (and the economy at large, especially in the us) so reliant on what amounts to war profiteering to begin with? Why is that an inevitability that we’re supposed to accept?

Anonymous asked:

Does Mary hold any significance within Islam?

Yeah, she's the second holiest lady within Islam. There's an entire chapter in the Qur'an dedicated to her.

Huh, I didn't know Fatima was an Arabic name. It's pretty common here in Brazil

  1. Because of the apparition of Mary (sa) in the town of Fatima in Portugal according to the Catholic Church. However, the city itself was named after a Moorish princess.
