I’m just so fuckin’ depressed, I just can seem to get out this slump If I could just get over this hump But I need something to pull me out this dump.

The whole “you have to earn a living” rhetoric is really toxic. Have we considered that maybe, in 2015, basic needs like housing, food, and medicine don’t really need to be “earned” but should, in any reasonably industrialized country, be guaranteed?

This site really need to stop trying to make communism a thing. Yes the real world sucks but you need to learn put on your adult pants and get over it. Not everything in life is handed to you and yes you will have to work it.

Basic Universal Income isn’t communism. It is a form of socialism, but it leaves the free market in play completely. With increasing automation in the workforce, basic universal income is something we are going to need to consider soon as a society. There simply isn’t a labor demand to sustain our workforce anymore. However, there are enough resources and enough wealth available. We just need to be smarter about how we distribute it all.

but the similarities in communism that are shared are the same ones that stops communism in its tracks. If people don’t have to work, they wont. The industry would be fucked. I support fair wages, minimum wage needs to at least pass the livable point, but that system just wont work

The majority of low-lifes simple won’t work in that scenario.  Minimum wage jobs are for teenagers.  They are not  intended for you to buy a house or anything.  

I'd like to add on to this that working minimum wage jobs are not just for teenagers, and working a minimum wage job for only 30 hours a week is enough to afford an apartment, food, and other living expenses. What minimum wage jobs are not for are for people who want to start a family and do extravagant things, no they're not going to be eating steak or going out to eat, but that's at working only 30 hours a week. Also, working at only 30 hours a week allows more jobs to be open for others. And, yes automation is lowering the amount of jobs that are available in factories, but there are always new jobs that will be needed in different areas. Why should some people work hard at a job and make a living while others remain unemployed and are given a living?

Why am I still so hung up on someone who is never going to want me like I want them?
