How many times do women have to tell you what we experience on a daily basis? How many viral hashtags until you recognize that we are constantly harassed and objectified and told to just live with it?
Our experiences are demeaned because they were such a long time ago. If you can have empathy for a soldier’s return home with PTSD, then why not for anyone else experiencing trauma? Rape is trauma. Assault is trauma. You blame yourself. People doubt your story. People doubt your story THE DAY AFTER it happens so of course they doubt your story 36 years later.
I wasn’t surprised about the number of my friends who hash tagged #MeToo. If you were, you haven’t been paying attention. Listen to us. Support us. BELIEVE US.
