"Hey, remember when we all got super fucking drunk (because Matt slipped alcohol in your drinks) and when we woke up, we all were naked and couldn't remember shit? Well....I'm pregnant." (I wanna see Near, Mello, Matt, Beyond, and L's reaction to this xD)

Avatar

//Good God I think I love you XD No but seriously this is hilarious.\

Near:

“You’re…what?” Near looked between her face and her stomach, though logically he knew he wouldn’t be able to see a visible bump yet. Surely she couldn’t be pregnant…right? Had they even used protection. ‘Well obviously not, if she’s pregnant.’ He thought. “When did you find out?”

Mello:

The blonde stood frozen for a moment, unable to speak, before managing to make a sound. “Really?” He murmured. His first feeling was happiness, and his second was worry. What if something went wrong? What if Ellie got hurt? “Are you really pregnant? With my child?” It was slightly surreal to him.

Matt:

Matt almost dropped his DS, looking up at Ellie. “You mean we…we’re gonna have a kid?” He seemed shocked for a few seconds, before bursting out with laughter. “Oh, Roger’s gonna be pissed.” He hugged Ellie, before kissing her on the cheek. “How long have you known?”

Beyond:

Beyond acted nonchalant, continuing to eat his jam. He did look up at her though, before grinning slightly. “I know. I was wondering how long it’d take you to figure it out.” He chuckled. “Do you want me to be around, Ellie?” He’d honestly understand if she didn’t. He wasn’t exactly the perfect father figure for their kid.

And, last but not least…

L:

L frowned, looking up at Ellie from his position in front of the computers. “You’re keeping it, right?” He’d like to make sure she was before he got excited over being a dad. “And if you are, would that mean we’d have to become a couple? I mean, officially.” Of course he wanted to, but he wanted to make sure Ellie did, too.

//Well this took forever to write XD. If you want to turn any or all of them into full RPs, just tell me and I’ll make separate posts for the selected character(s). Also I like to imagine they’d all be excited to be dads. (Well Near wouldn’t be at first but as soon as he feels any sign of life from the baby he’d be in love)\

Near:

Near woke up the next morning with his arms still wrapped around her, and he smiled slightly. ‘She’s cute when she’s sleeping.’ He thought idly.

Mello:

“What?” The blond asked with a shrug.

Matt:

“I am totally down for that.” Matt said with a cheeky grin, looking over at her. “You wanna play another round?”

Beyond:

Beyond laughed. “Of course you are, honey.”

L:

“I think that is the single stupidest phrase I have ever heard.”

Near:

She twitched in her sleep. giving her eyes a little rub before falling quiet once more.

Mello:

“So wait….you know a guy that collects spiders?” she said slowly, as if she couldn’t believe what she was uttering. “Well, I know who is NOT gonna be the godfather now..”

Matt:

Ellie shot him a look, “Eat a dick.” she growled out, her eyes twitching as she started another round.

Beyond:  “Damn right I am.”

L:

“Really? Then I guess you never heard what’s coming out of your mouth everyday.” she sassed, giving him a smirk.

Near:

The albino kissed her forehead gently, before letting his eyes doggy down to her belly. "I'm going to be a father." He said quietly to himself. It still seemed a little surreal.

Mello:

"Not collects, illegally trades. There's a difference." The blonde chuckled, before looking serious again. "But now that I think about it...who /are/ we going to make the godparents?"

Matt:

"I have. Not that bad, actually." Matt grinned and immediately began setting up traps for Ellie and her team.

Beyond:

"I completely agree."

L:

"Ellie, are you sassing me? Me, the king of sass?"

" *holds up piece of paper*...Wanna fuck?" For Near, Mello, Matt, L and Beyond from Ellie. (shits and giggles

Avatar

((Oh my god XD))

L, Near, and Mello all froze, just staring at her with no idea what to say. Mello’s mouth was opening and closing, much resembling a fish at the moment.

Beyond began laughing. The note was funny, but the other three’s reactions were even funnier. “Well I don’t see why not.”

Matt looked at her very seriously. “Okay, which one of us was that directed at? You couldn’t have possibly meant all of us, right?” The corner of his mouth twitched, showing that he was trying not to laugh.

Avatar

They all immediately turned serous, rushing to  her side. “Ellie?” L asked, the others too shocked to speak at the moment. He rolled her onto her back to see if she was still conscious or not.

Her muscles started twitching as blood poured from her nose. After 5 minutes, her muscles finally relaxed and she took a deep breath, her eyes going back to normal. Moving each of her limbs to see if they still worked, she sat herself up, cradling her head. “Ow…crap..” she muttered, hissing in pain from the headache.

“Are you okay?” Mello asked her, looking down at he worriedly. None of them had left her side.

“Was that a seizure?” Near asked her quietly.

“Yeah, sorry about that.” she said quietly, trying to stop the blood that was gushing down her nose.”Gosh dangit…I look like Linda when she reads her weird comics.”

Matt looked at Mello. “Did she just apologize for having a seizure?” He asked unbelievably.

Mello nodded. “Yes. Unbelievable.” He huffed. “We should probably take her to the infirmary, right?”

L nodded. “Yes, I think we should.”

When they looked back at where she once layed, She was gone. Ellie stumbled down the hall, blood dripping through her fingers from cradling her nose. She then ran into Roger, ‘oh crud…’

Roger looked down at her, first looking angry, then concerned. “Are you alright, Ellie?”

Meanwhile, Matt and Mello both let out curses (and were reprimanded by L) and the whole group immediately went to look for her.

Sluggishly. the girl nodded. “Yes,sir. I’m fine….just ran right into the door.” she fibbed, not looking him in the eye and just stared ahead.

Roger had been around children (particularly, Wammy's children) enough to know that if they wouldn't look you in the eye, they were almost /definitely/ hiding something. "Are you sure?" He asked, looking over her shoulder to see if he could see any of the others she usually hung out with.

"Matt, you don't look so good. Did you let Near beat you in a fight or something?" (The-best-dresser)

“No, I fell down the stairs.” Matt shrugged. “I wasn’t watching where I was going.”

“Well I mean technically I do have a fake identity, but it is fake and if a cop ran my license through the system it wouldn’t help anyway, so…” Matt trailed off with a small shrug.

“We’re almost there, right?” He asked, his surroundings not so familiar. Maybe he did need to get out more.

“Yeah.” Matt pulled into the parking lot less than a minute later.

“Let’s go! First date mattie~” he pecked the other’s cheek and got out if the car, rather happy with himself.

Matt chuckled and shook his head, getting out of the car and locking it. He made it to the door first and held it open for Mello. “My lady.” He said with a cheeky grin.

Mello gently punched Matt’s arm, walking through the door and waiting for Matt. “You want to talk to them?”

Matt laughed and followed him in, before shrugging at his question and walking up to the waitress. “Table for two, please.”

“Thanks.” He mumbled, grabbing matt’s sleeve as they walked and not letting go until they sat down. “Busy for the time, don’t you think?”

Matt looked around. “Yeah, I guess.” He returned his attention to the blond.

Mello looked over the menu, getting almost anything with chocolate. Hot chocolate, chocolate chip waffles–could he order without messing up? What if Matt realized something was up? He could just pass it off as the waitress being pretty.

Matt looked down at the menu as well, but he really already knew what he wanted. He glanced up at Mello every now and then, wondering if he should say something. Was it really just him, or was something off about his best friend?

“Matt? If I tell you what I want could you order while I go smoke?” He watched Matt for a reaction, hoping it would go smoothly. “And if you can, can I have a cigarette? I swear I’ll buy you a new pack tomorrow.”

Matt raised an eyebrow, but nodded. “Sure.” He pulled the pack out of his pocket and slid it across the table. “What do toy want to eat?” He decided that he wouldn’t ask Mello about it, figuring the blond would tell him if it was something serious…wouldn’t he?

“Hot chocolate, chocolate whatever waffles, same type of milkshake…you get the idea, I guess.” He smiled. “Thanks.” Grabbing the cigarettes he left, coming back almost right away. “Matt I don’t have a lighter.”

Matt nodded along with the order, grinning slightly at his friend’s sweet tooth. When he came back Matt reached into his pocket to get the lighter, and just then the waitress walked up to their table.

“So, what can I get you boys to drink?” She asked with a smile.

Mello panicked slightly. “I…Um…Water.” He mumbled, not looking at her while sitting back down. This was painfully awkward for him, and he was waiting on that damn lighter.

“I want an orange juice and a hot chocolate, please.” Matt amended, remembering Mello’s order from before. The waitress left and he looked up at the blond. “Hey, are you alright?” He asked, passing him the lighter. “You’re not acting like yourself.”

“Thanks.” He sighed in relief, glad to have Matt. “Perfectly fine.” He mumbled, taking the lighter and going outside. Maybe it works m would help.

Matt watched after him, brows furrowing in worry. The waitress brought their drinks back a minute later, and he told her both of their orders as well.

He smoked half the cigarette before putting it out and putting it in a small pocket of his coat. Might as well keep it. He handed the things back to matt. “Looks good. Could use more chocolate.”

Matt rolled his eyes and pocked the the lighter and pack of cigarettes. “You always say that.” He chuckled, shaking his head.

“It’s true is why.” He mumbled, starting to eat. He was hungry, despite what was going on in his head. It was probably just because he smoked the wrong thing.

Matt began eating as well, looking up at Mello through his eyelashes every now and then…something was definitely up, but he didn’t know how to ask without making Mello angry.

“Matt? Why’d you go out with me?” He asked. He was genuinely confused. Even if they were best friends this seemed really off. He doubted it was. “Oh. And do you have anything other than normal cigarettes?”

“Because I wanted to. Why’d you agree to go out with me?” Matt questioned, raising an eyebrow. If he was being honest he might have had a /little/ crush on his best friend, but he wasn’t about to tell him that and make him uncomfortable. He valued their friendship too much for that. “And no, not with me.”

“Because I could go out with you and I was hungry.” He also didn’t want to be alone. Or laying in the dark. Not now. “What about when we get back? Do you have anything in your room I could have?” He smoked to calm the anxiety, but now he was getting off his high and it was worse.

"Touching, Mello, really." Matt chuckled, resting his chin in his hand. "And yeah, I have some you can have once we get back." He could tell Mello was on edge about something, just by the way he was sitting. He just hoped it wasn't anything too bad.

“Huh? You want me to go with you and Matt?” Taro asked, confused, as he looks at Mello. The young black haired male shook his head. “I-I can’t, I’m sorry… I just can’t,” Taro said with tears in his eyes.”I know you want to get revenge on L’s death…. but…” He shook his head. “I-I’m sorry….” He muttered, before running off.

Seven years after L died, Near formed the SPK, and Taro was in it. He was nice to the other members, even though almost all of them knew Near and Taro was smarter then any of them. “Mello?! You can’t be serious Near! Mello can’t be the Mafia leader!” Taro said with wide eyes as he grabbed Near’s shoulders. When he found out Near wasn’t lying and he couldn’t ignore the facts anymore, Taro hugged Near, not wanting anyone else to see him cry.

Near had been grateful for Taro staying with him, even if he wasn’t really the reason he stayed, but it didn’t change the fact that he both missed and worried about Matt and Mello. Which is why he’d started looking for them again in the first place.

In all honesty Near wasn’t expecting to find much. Hell, a part of him was expecting to find out they were dead, and had been for a long time. So when he found out that they were alive, he was both shocked and relieved. However, he soon learned of what they were up to, and he had to tell Taro. He was expecting anger from him, which was why it took him a minute to respond when Taro hugged him. After a moment however, he returned the gesture in what he hoped was a comforting way. “I’m sorry Taro.” He murmured. “At least we know he’s okay.”

Taro just stayed still for a few moments, before pulling away and wiping his tears. “Y-Yeah…. b-but if he’s caught…. H-he’ll…. get the death penalty…” Taro said, sighing softly.

“I guess we can’t worry about that now, we have to catch kira….” He said, but his voice sounded hallow now that he realized if they didn’t catch Kira, Mello would be killed.

"Kira does take top priority right now." Near agreed quietly. "But Mello is still our friend. The best thing we can do for him is catch Kira, then work on finding Mello and try and help him. It'll all turn out okay." Near had to admit, he knew he was awful at comforting people, but he still hoped that he was helping at least a little.

Near got up to walk over to the monitors, sitting down in front of them and destroying the file on Mello. If Kira found it it would only make it that much easier for him to kill the blond, and Near knew if something were to happen to him or Taro there would be almost nothing standing between Kira and all of the information he wanted. "We'll find him after we find Kira." He promised, turning back to face Taro again.

Near frowned slightly. “They pay as much attention to me as they do to you. They just /expect/ you to make trouble.”

Avatar

“Yeah, okay. Say that tomorrow morning and I’ll believe you.”

He laughed. “Well I’ll be alive right?”

“Yes but I sincerely doubt that you’ll be anywhere near as happy.”

“I’ll always be happy with you.” He whined, not liking how near wasn’t happy.

“Wow….do you realize how cheesy that sounded?” Near chuckled to cover up just how flustered he was.

Mello smiled at the laugh, closing his eyes.

Near got up out of the floor. “Are you tired? It’s almost midnight.”

Mello nodded, pulling himself off the floor. “I thought you didn’t sleep…” He watched near, yawning And making his way to the bed.

"Everyone has to sleep." Near rolled his eyes and followed the blond. "I just fail to do so on a regular schedule."

"Mello, I think I just drank a glass of liquor instead of water" said Near

Avatar

Mello raised an eyebrow. “How did you manage to drink a whole glass of it without realizing it wasn’t water?” He shook his head. “Honestly, I thought you were supposed to be the smarter one of the two of us.”

Avatar

Mello shrugged. “Okay, just shift your weight with mine, okay? Otherwise you’ll throw us off balance and it won’t be pretty.” And with that he kicked up the stand and pulled out of the alley, driving down the roads faster than he was supposed to. Still, he wasn’t going as fast as usual, purely for Near’s sake.

Near nodded unsurely, doing as he was told to. But as soon as Mello started to go fast, he was blinded by fear, and gripped tighter to Mello. “…m-Mello… Pay attention, please…” He asked. He looked at the clutch: Mello was going faster than the road required. Near couldn’t believe it. “Mello…. Do you always run like-” they made a big jump, running over a hole on the concrete:“…this?”

Mello laughed, nodding and slowing down by just a fraction so that Near could hear him. “I usually go faster, actually. But since it was your first time I decided to go slow.” He sped up again, cutting through a parking lot to avoid going through a red light.

Near gasped loudly:“ M-me…MELLO-” he coughed:“…don’t get us killed. I still need to finish that puzzle. And I just kissed you, you can’t let it be such a terrible omen.” He tried to excuse himself. “…just out of curiosity…. Are we there yet?” He asked, sounding calm, but actually feeling scared as hell as he saw the cars running next to him, and Mello being completely comfortable cutting their way.

Mello laughed. “I’ve been driving this thing for years and I’ve never crashed even once.” He swerved in and out of traffic easily as he was talking, like it was the most natural thing in the world. “And actually, yes.” Mello slowed down enough to get into the turning lane and turn into the restaurant’s parking lot. He pulled into a parking space and kicked up the stand, before cutting off the bike and turning around to grin at Near. “Did I scare you too much?”

Near was completely red, and he had teary eyes because of the air;“…I am not scared.” He pouted. “…I am sure I would be able to drive just the same.” He promised naively, but quickly changed argument:“so this is a date. You just brought me into a date. You are dating me.” He repeated over and over. “…what is it? Do you have a crush?” He asked with a grin, as he twirled his hair; he didn’t want to look weak anyhow…

“Maybe I do.” Mello shrugged and got off of the bike. “I mean, why would I be on a date with you if I didn’t?” He helped Near off and walked to the front of the restaurant, holding the door open for him before telling the hostess that they needed a table for two. “Besides, you’re the one who crawled into bed with me.” He teased.

“I didn’t even know what I was doing, Mello. You were happy to hug me, apparently… You asked for a kiss, and I gave you even more than one. So… Yeah, you were much more emotional than me.” He said, sitting in front of him at the table. “…will you get me drunk again to sleep with me?” He asked with a smirk.

"Ah ah, you came to me before I came to you. I just happened to ask you to kiss me after that." Mello smiled, then pretended to think about his next question. "No, not if you didn't want me to, and especially not if it was our first time together." He looked up when the waitress came over, asking for their drink orders. "Just Coke for me." He told her with a small smile.

Matt began eating as well, looking up at Mello through his eyelashes every now and then...something was definitely up, but he didn't know how to ask without making Mello angry.

"Near, they pay less attention to you. Do you think you could go get me some chocolate?" He knelt next to the other, gently holding his arm. "Please?" He'd taken some of Matt's alcohol too. And he was getting clingy. (The-best-dresser)

Near frowned slightly. “They pay as much attention to me as they do to you. They just /expect/ you to make trouble.”

"Wow....do you realize how cheesy that sounded?" Near chuckled to cover up just how flustered he was.

90. Scientist/Lab Grown Human!AU

((Hi! I don’t mind! I would see L as the Lap Grown Human. Near seems the sciencey type too… Up to you though. You start.))

Near looked down at his notes while L ate, knowing he wouldn’t get anything done while he was doing so. L had been making great progress recently, but he apparently wasn’t progressing fast enough for Near’s supervisors. In fact they’d wanted to abandon the project, start over, but Near had insisted against it, which was why he was the only one that came in to work with L. It has it’s perks though, because that also meant that no one else knew how to deal with L like he did.

He glanced up and noticed that L was finished, and had stuff all over his face. He pulled a cloth out of his pocket and made a gesture of wiping his face with it, before handing it to L to try and get him to do the same. “You can have more once we’re done with all your work, if you want.” He told his creation, leaning back in his chair and writing on the whiteboard again.

L looked at he cloth offered to him and took it between slender, pale fingers, looking at it with curiosity before moving it to his face. He put it to his face briefly and wiped as Near did, looking with interest at the streak left on it. “Ah.” A sound of acknowledgement was heard and he cleaned the rest of his face then let the cloth fall to the floor. When Near spoke to him, he didn’t dumb things down, he spoke in proper sentences and as a result L randomly picked up extra words and was slowly learning appropriate sentence structure. The creation was picking up things at an alarming rate, but he was so far from being able to function in normal society that Near’s supervisors were lacking interest.

Animal instincts lead to possible outbursts of violence, and the age L was even though he was only a few weeks old meant he had reached full maturity without being raised in accepted society. He had difficulty controlling urges and instincts, and he was lacking vocabulary needed to explain things beyond that. Supervisors seen this as troublesome, but he was trying, and he was learning.

“More…” L repeated part of Near’s sentence. “Want more. Yes. Work. More.” Complete sentences needed some work, but he was getting there. He could get his point across with enough patience.

Near looked up at the small sound of acknowledgement from the creation, and he smiled in encouragement. He then looked back down at the whiteboard and wrote down a simple math equation, which was simply ‘6 - 4 =‘. He turned it to let L see it, guessing that it would be fairly easy for him to solve. He’d already taught him what a subtraction sign was and how to use it, and L usually added things together on his fingers (or if it was simple enough, without them), so he decided to test and see if L would be able to figure out how to subtract things the same way without Near telling him to do it.

“Six minus four.” He always said the problem aloud so that L could equate the verbal numbers with the actual numerical symbols. “What’s the answer?” He leaned forward to pick the cloth up off of the floor where L had dropped it, keeping the whiteboard visible to his creation while he did so. He placed the cloth in his pocket and straightened up again.
